In addition to keeping your hair moisturized, shampooed and conditioned, it is very important to limit the amount of damaging things you may want to do with your hair. Harsh chemicals destroy hair (color treatments, perms, relaxer, etc), natural is the best way to go. Heat damages hair (curling irons, pressing, flat iron, blow dryer, etc). Do not use rubber bands or metal clips in your hair for it will cause breakage.

If you do use heat on your hair, protect it with leave in conditioner and pink oil moisturizer. Protection and moisturizer is key. In addition, if you braid your own hair and leave it in a style where you don't have to mess with it daily, it will grow faster because there will be less damage.

While I am no hair expert, I really suggest you to go these forums.

http://forum.blackhairmedia.com

http://www.longhaircareforum.com

The members there is very well-informed regarding hair care and will let you know the right products to use and the dos and donts on how to take proper care of your hair.

Also there is a product by the name of mtg (here is the website
www.shapleys.com). I ordered this bottle from their site a few weeks ago, and I kid you not I have seen results of visible hair growth within two to three weeks of using it. Some people mentioned the same thing as well. Others have gotten at least one and half inch in a month! This product is definitely worth it if you want your hair to grow. But if you decide to purchase it, please do a patch test first to make sure you are not allergic and get a bad reaction from it. I hope all goes well for you and your hair!

Hey i had the same problem long hair isn't everything you know! first you should try to limit how much perms you but in you're hair i went from 8 perms a year to just two a year and it's a big different. try getting your hair trimmed often that helps take out those ugly spit ends. Braids aren't a bad ideal as long as the person who does them know what they are doing give it time it'll grow for sure.

Just go natural, all of the time. That means no perms, just conditioning and pressings. Do this for about a year, and you will notice a big difference. Now remember, your hair grows about an half of an inch a month, which is six inches a year. Good luck.

Hair club for Men? (unless they have HC for woman)... not trying to sound mean, I just don't think it will grow. I'm not "african american", but I was once envolved with a real honest to goodness Ethiopian, she had short hair (for those reading, no she didn't have rings around her neck and jump up and down). She had to always get a weave.

In the black hair care products section in a pharmacy I have seen a carrot oil based product that claims to promote hair growth. I am black also and when I brush my hair with a stiff brush the true length shows better.

Well the way you can get your hair to grow is by greasing it every other day and by keeping your hair braided. Make sure that your hair is natural.
