Is it ok to pick it up and lick each side of the blade;then wipe it clean with your napkin?
The flatware wasn't used as you didn't start your meal yet

LEAVE IT ON THE FLOOR!!! If it's a really swanky place, the wait staff will notice it, take it away and being you a new one. If they don't, ask them to. Under no circumstances do you pick it up yourself - much less the rest of it.

Whether at a formal dinner or business conference, you COULD pick up the knife yourself. But DON'T show your boorish manners by licking it and then using it.Sure the carpet was vacuumed before the event, but still? You merely signal to one of the servers to come over and you hand him the knife handle first and ask for a replacement. And YES, you are being watched, lol.

You should pick it up and put it aside. The request a new one.
Don't put it in your plate, or back in the same place it was. Put it away.
If you want to star a polite conversation out of this accident, you may say "A man is coming to visit". It is believed that when silverware falls on the floor, a visit is comming. If I don't remember wrong, if the knife falls is a man, and if the Spoon falls it's a woman.

Goodluck!

Uh, no. Ask the wait staff to bring you a clean knife. To lick it in public is just disgusting. You won't be invited to another wedding and I doubt if your colleagues would invite you out to lunch/dinner again. Unless, that's what you intended.

You wait until a waiter passes and say'

"Excuse me. I just dropped my knife. Can I have another one please?"

Make sure you thank him when he brings it. Don't ever lick a knife that you've dropped on the floor or for any other reason at a formal dinner.

No. I think the best thing to do in that situation is to pick up the untensil and set it infront of your plate. If it is a sit-down meal, let the waitress/waiter know the untensil fell on the floor and kindly request a new one. They shouldn't have a problem in bringing you a new one.

I certainly hope that you are joking about licking the knife. I would leave the knife on the floor and ask one of the servers/staff for another.

Just pick it up and call the waiter to request a new one.You are not serious about licking the utensil are you? That is the height of bad manners and bad hygiene.

Just notify a waiter and have it replaced. That is part of their job. Slip that waiter a dollar on the way out.
