I have blond hair, pale skin, green-blue eyes, and it runs in the family. Am I the only one like this who is scared of skin cancer?

I look a lot like that, and skin cancer freaks me out a bit. you don't have to stay out of the sun, but you should wear a high SPF sunscreen to make sure you don't get burned. And also, don't try to get tanned. At least not naturally.

i have skin cancer and all the things the others told u is true avoid the sun if at all possible. if not do wear sun screen and if u have any moles keep a watch over them.. I've had many removed and thank god just one was bad but i'm dark haired and dark skin i dont' think it really matter what ur color is if ur going to get it u will.. My mom died from skin cancer and she was the same as me.. The way i see things if your meant to get it u will.. if not u wont'.. If we sit around all day worrying we'll end up with mental probs. If u have a mole that has changed color or shape i would see your Dr.. doesn't mean u have skin cancer but early detection is the best prevention..

I have heard it only takes one time to do the damage. This doesn't mean you will get skin cancer, but everytime you go out and get 'brown' that is actually a reaction from the skin (the tan) trying to protect itself from the sun. I am quite pale - am proud of it, and think you shouldn't try and change the colour of your skin (just look at Michael Jackson). Stay out of the sun and have a good happy long healthy life! Maybe you should look skin cancer / protection from, up on the net to find out more info.

You may have a higher chance of skin cancer, but you can take many steps to avoid your chances of skin cancer. Wear light colored clothing in the sun, wear long sleeves, and cover as much of your skin to minimize exposure. Wear sun block on the areas that you can not cover, and wear a hat. Avoid the sun in the peak hours 11-2.

In the last 10 years people have started to pay more attention to the skin in the sun. If you do what you need to do to protect your skin your chances are very little. watch exposer time in the sun, use the sunblock that is right for you and repeat it several times a day. They are even making makeup now with sunblock in it to help. I think people with redhair have the most chance of problems due to their skin being so so so white. Just protect your skin and you will be ok

Make sure the sunscreen has broad coverage for UVA and UVB. Don't forget to protect areas a lot of people tend to forget about such as the ears, lips, neck and upper chest.
If you've had decent sun exposure or burns in the past, consider applying a retinoid cream at night, you'll need a prescription for it.
