Oh, you bet...we have all kinds of lids around the house serving different purposes. We have a couple that hold change. A few of the plastic ones we use for bits of meats for our spoiled rotten cat babies...chicken bits in one and tuna bits in another, for example next to their food bowls. I use one in the bathroom for my silver hair bobby pins. The plastic ones are also great for putting little soap bits into to use at the sink...the soap from the bars that's just TOO little to use in the shower!

Yes for a short time only because the vacuum seal has been broken. You can't use them for canning stuff either unless you use it right away, within a few weeks.

of course, you can use them for storing left overs, gravy, sauces about anything you like. just make sure you wash out the jars when you finish it. Even marinades.

You can re-use the lids, I would use them for storage not for canning.
