Nag your parents to buy you a PSP or other hand held computer thingy or take a cd player that way when your mum starts shouting at your dad becuase he is lost you don't have to listen to them for 12 hours. I endured many many horrible car journeys with my mum and dad when I was younger and Ipods did not exist back then (although not that long ago!) If you have neither stay awake all night and then you can sleep through the journey. Have a nice holiday.

At 12 you should be old enough to assist with navigation.
Get a map of the route of your own, and talk the route over with your parents before you go - maybe mark it on your map.

At the start of the journey, pay attention to how your parents handle the navigation - what they do and say.
Then you can give whichever of your parents is navigating a break for a while to ease their task, and the journey becomes less boring for you because you know where you are.

The downside is you have no excuse for asking the normal "Are we nearly there yet?"

Watch the scenery and the towns and villages along the road as long as you can stand it. Write down anything interesting that you see. Bring some books to read and a comfortable pillow. Personally, I am quite envious of a long drive through France - it seems a lot more exciting than a long drive through the U.S.

you can take a look at some of the comments listed in the link below. they seem a little dull! but might give you some idea of your own you could draw up a list of vehicle you need to spot! British cars, construction machines, trains, caravans, aeroplanes and what ever else you think of, make a list then count how many of each type you spot. what ever you decide to do, have a nice time and have a safe journey.

Either stay up all night the night before you leave so that you can sleep through the journey (make sure you have a pillow), or take a very good book. Other than that it's "I spy" with your parents!

I'm sure whichever parent isn't driving will be able to talk to you. It might be a good time to have a good chat with them. Or get a map of the areas you are driving through and follow the route. Or go to sleep!!

Annoy your sister by nipping her on the leg, pull your moms hair, just be a general pain in the backside and hopefully your dad will get so fed up of it he will stop overnight somewhere instead of doing such a long journey, have a good holiday.

Keep track of unusual vehicles u see on your trip. I bet u can make the entire trip without spotting a single Chevrolet Vega! See how many cars from the 50s u can spot. See if u can spot any unusual imports, like a Renault or Simca.

buy a little DVD player and bring some movies to watch on the road or get a learn to speak French audio book so that way when you're in France, you'll be able to communicate with the locals.

Book, if you can read in a moving car (if you can, some people get car sick when reading with their head down). Also try to get some sleep so you can be somewhat rested when you arrive. Try to stay up before you go, but talk to your parents about this, and your concerns.
