Dog only afraid of the water hose but not of swimming?

Question

I have a black Lab (pure bread) and she is terrified of the water hose when we try to bathe her post swimming in the bay or in a lake.

I know this is a result of some trauma we gave her when she was younger.

My question is does anyone have any good stragegies to helping her get over this fear?

Maybe the water could be turned down so that it trickles out slowly.

Or maybe the water from the hose is too cold (or too hot if the hose have been sitting in the sun).

Try and make her bath times a good experiance for her. Give her treats afterwards and tell her throughout her bath that she is a good dog, that is well behaved etc. I have a black lab mix with the same problem she doesn't mind swimming but hates the hose. When I give her a bath I make sure when I am sampooing her I strach her in all the spots she likes and when he gets done she knows she is getting treats. She is still not fond of the hose but she at least does not mind her baths

You need to hold her down and show her. Tell her it's OK and she's a good dog. This should help. If it doesn't give her some treats along with it. IF THIS doesn't work she most likely will never get over her fear. My dogs are all afraid of the vacum so your not alone when it comes to your dog being afraid of objects you use on a daily basis.

would you like some to aim a hose at you i dont think so why not bathe her in a bath like everyone else ....try putting a hose into your face or eyes then you will know what it feels like..

splash her in the lake!my dog had the same thing
