try having a large mirror where if your dog looks in the mirror it appears to be another dog. They really hate being alone and an image may help your dog not feel like they are all alone.

Sounds like separation anxiety to me. Our weimaraner has it big time and is terrified of being left alone. We kennel her every time we leave as well as put a muzzle on her to control her barking (and to stop her from chewing through her cage.) Maybe you could have a special toy that your dog gets only when you leave or something like that so it's not so bad. Vets can prescribe sedatives to control the anxiety but it doesn't sound like you need anything that drastic. But I would get a kennel so your dog is contained and safe while you are gone and also think about a muzzle if the barking is driving your neighbors nuts.

Well have you tried leaving the tv on lots of dogs like when the tv is on cuz it sounds like there owners are still around cuz of the voices on the tv? Well you could also try leaving him outside when you leave with like a few bones or so. The last thing I can think of for you to do is get another dog so he has someone to hang out with.

It helps, with my puppy, to leave the television on, I come back to find her sitting and staring at it, or fast asleep! Remember not to leave your dog alone for more than 4 hours, so if you work longer than that everyday, hire a dog walker or someone just to pop in and play with your dog for half an hour.
Good luck, Eleanor x

Can you retrace your steps as to what you do before you leave the house, do you sometimes make a fuss of him before you leave thinking that you are reassuring him, if so this will actually make him feel more insecure as he will think that you are not coming back, try to ignore him before you go, dont say goodbye, just leave, put a clock under his blanket to remind him of his mother.

You need to kennel your dog when you go out. Do not leave him to roam around the house. He feels insecure when you're all gone and his security is in a kennel - or dog cage - whatever you may wish to call it. Barring that, use a muzzle. Still use the kennel.

It's called seperation anxiety. You can talk to your vet about maybe getting something to help with it. You could also try getting another dog so he'd have someone to keep him company. But it would be best if you took him with you if you do to make sure they will get along and their are no dominance issues.

this is a very common problem wid pet owners...
your dog may even cause damage to the household by biting nd chewing if he's alone....
always leave a lot of his favourite toys with him before you leave...
maybe this will help

It appears you have dog that really likes people. Maybe you shuold leave him outside of the house. That way he will still be around people.
