You can make rhubarb/strawberry jam or rhubarb/peach jam so I don't see why you can't mix rhubarb and apple......It might be very good. I would go with the Granny Smith apples tho because of the tartness

I would say use the same proportions of sugar and pectin for the rhubarb and apple as in the rhubarb and gooseberry. Add a tad of cinnamon to take out the sourness of the rhubarb. I use these two together often in pie recipes, also...fantastic! Apple and rhubarb as well as strawberry and rhubarb are wonderful partners in both pies and jams.

Sure You can mix apple and ruhbarb!!!!! There are such things as apple-ruhbarb pies, cakes, jams, & jellies. I'd give a recipe, but I'm up to my eyeballs in canning. Just type in - in the search bar, apple-ruhbarb jam. If you can't find something let me know, and I will dig my recipe out for you.

Find a recipe for strawberry/rhubarb jam and substitute apples for berries by weight.

It is because they are both sweet. Try a granny smith apple to make sweet and sour because granny smiths are tart/sour.
