Muslims believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. When the angels announced to Mary (peace be upon her) about Allah’s promise that she will have a son, she was surprised, since she was a virgin. “How can this be?” she thought. She was reminded that it is easy for Allah to create whatever he wills.

She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me? He said: So (it will be). Allah createth what He will. If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is (Qur’an 3:47).

Virgin birth occur in many, many religions not just in the Muslim and Christian. I guess it was when women didn't know that they had had sex and suddenly hey presto! Every guy was denying that he had anything to do with it so the only rational explanation was the supernatural one. On the other hadn these women may have been ravished by Aliens. We've all heard about people being abducted by Aliens and having experiements carried out on them. I mean you must have seen the episode in South Park called: Cartman receives and anal probe - pretty scary stuff.....

Alllah had nothing to do with the virgin birth. If they admit the virgin birth and that it was Jesus the Son of God born of Mary and not just a prophet they are going against the Quran. Christianity and Islam have about as much in common as heaven and hell.

Catholics (and I think all other forms of Christianity) believe that too. It's part of both religions. People of the religions mentioned believe in the virgin birth because it:
a. Shows that Mary was always pure (which is something the Bible teaches) and that Jesus (a form of God to Christians and an important prophet to Muslims) came from a pure woman.
b. To Christians: It explains how Jesus is both a form of God and the son of God. (Jesus was a form of God that appeared in a human form. God is everywhere, yet they believe that he acted through this human form in a small part of the world.)
To Muslims: It explains why Jesus is one of the most important prophets. (Even from birth.)

All Christians believe in a virgin birth, as well. It is something spectacular and eye-catching. A miracle in a world where miracles happen more than they should, but less than we want. Whether or not it is true or real, it is part of the belief systems for several millions of people and it will persist so long as people look to written religious text for inspiration instead of themselves.
