get a spray bottle and put hot water and soap in it that should work and its not expensive. you can use hand soap. trust me it works i've been in the same place as you. you will be able to pull it off with your hands but if there is a tough spot you can use a scraper. bonus you'll save a lot of money!!!!!11

Steam is correct and there are places that you can rent a steam machine specifically for removing wallpaper. Also there are wallpaper strippers available. Local paint or hardware stores could help you there.

Spray dif on the wall liberally and let it sit for a few minutes. Then steam and scrape off with a razor scraper. Be careful not damage the wall. Steamers can be rented from a local tool rental store, or there are clothes steamers available pretty cheap now.

Get one of those round wallpaper perferator gadgets that makes lots of holes in the paper and then spray a concoction of 1/4 Downy fabric softner and 3/4 water on the paper and let it soak. It takes it off without the stink of most wallpaper remover, your whole house will smell Downy fresh!

A steam stripper is the best answer but keep it moving or you could crack the plaster.
