Unfortunately, no. You could give them the information and they could keep an eye out for it.

Put up flyers, put ads in the paper, offer a reward. Good luck!

i imagine the Humane Society may be attempting to stretch their funds on a nationwide aspect in the adventure that they are shifting dogs from different states. many of the southern states, particularly considering the fact that typhoon Katrina, do not have the gap or the funding. Is it the Humane Society's coverage to funds by technique of state or nationally? i'm not effective if that's a city, county, state or organizational challenge, yet i imagine it should be more effective of a breed-certain challenge regardless. There are some municipalities that do not enable adoption of pit bulls. i have walked into the city pounds and totally ninety 5% of the dogs in there are pit. diverse the dogs ought to also be held with a pending court case, or ought to were picked up being stated as an aggressive canines. i'm not bashing the breed - as one in all my rescues is a boxer/pit blend who i recognize dearly - yet i'll bash the infinite irresponsible pit proprietors. understanding finished nicely that those dogs have a extreme PR difficulty, such diverse proprietors do not properly domicile or fence their canines, enable them to roam, or basically turn them out - for this reason the dogs finally end up contained in the pound. i don't believe of all of us who cares about animals concurs with the approaches of a kill protect, notwithstanding the very reality continues to be that many of the shelters, ASPCA and different rescue businesses are overworked, underfunded and do the great that they could. that's heartbreaking to imagine of the animals that finally end up there and not in any respect stumble on a house. back, and as continuously, spaying or neutering your animal is the step that each and each and every puppy proprietor can do to help avert more effective undesirable animals from a similar end.

None will help you find your dog. Do call the shelters (city and private) and check if he's there. Also, when I did this, they took my info, so if one came in fitting the description, they could call me. The best you can do is search and call, if you know where he last was, and put up fliers. Another idea, I lost my cat out of town from where I lived, way back, and my family knocked on doors. It worked. My dogs used to jump the fence, so I'd drive around the surrounding neighborhood asking people if they'd seen them. Many took my name and number and they were found. I hope you get the same good luck.

If you call the police, they will refer you to your local animal control. Calling animal control is hit or miss, depending on the location -- some will take the information, some won't. Calling local shelters is a good idea, especially no-kill shelters, because the individuals there WANT to help reunite owners and pets, and to find pets good homes. Beyond posting flyers, you might try checking the internet.
The links I've supplied have tips/suggestions and the petfinder.org is a good place to start.

Flyers and Lost Dog ads in the local paper are your best bet. Attatch a pic of your dog to the ad, this alone gives you a 100% better chance in someone seeing your dog.

For the record, this is why I believe it is good to get your dog/cat microchipped for ID purposes. This way, if your pet is found and taken to a shelter, all they have to do is scan your pet and read the info on the chip and you get a phone call saying they found him/her. ID tags can get lost, espically if the collar is torn off or the dog simply wiggles out of it. Microchips stay put!

Yes the Humane Society will help you. Also notify animal shelters and post flyers in local grocery stores, gas stations, library, etc. Good Luck. I lost my dog once and someone brought her to the Human Society and I was contacted by them and we were reunited.

....I answered your first question about this, then you asked a second question, now a third. EVERYBODY SAYS CALL THE POLICE!!! So do it!! Don't waste your time here asking what you should do. You could be in the process of getting your dog back right now if you had taken the advice from your original question.....

Nope. They will just keep the dog if it is found. And if it is licensed, they will call you. Or you can call them to see if the dog has been picked up. Good luck - and don't let your dog run loose. If someone doesn't steal it, it could get hit by a car.
