Gotta go with Atkins. I did it a year ago and lost 28 lbs and kept them off by following the maintenance routine. At the beginning, the first two weeks, it is a rough regimen. Stick with it as it becomes less burdensome as you add more carbs to your diet beginning with week 3. This diet basically lets you eat all you want so that you never have to go 'hungry'. Just don't eat carbs. Meats, eggs, cheese are all ok. Nowadays there are even low carb breads and tortillas available, ranging from as low as 3 grams of carbs per serving up to 7 grams per serving. There's even low carb yogurt now. Go for it.
Go to http://www.atkins.com Read about it, download the pdf for a list of foods and how many carbs they contain. Go on the diet, you will be glad you did. PM me if you have any questions.
Good luck.

Do you see a theme happening here!? NEITHER...that is right! because DIETS DON"T WORK they just COST MONEY...the secret is moderation, drinking lots of water and excercise as the other posters here suggest...but you won't hear that on any infomercial or marketing scheme because it is FREE ...all it takes is DISCIPLINE...Today's sedentary way of life and fast-food culture is out of balance with our ancestral roots..so you might want to consider eating whatever is traditional for your ethnic group too (100,000 generations of humans were hunter-gatherers, 500 generations have depended on agriculture, and only 10 generations have lived since the start of the industrial age, and only two generations have grown up with highly processed fast foods) - that is what your body has evolved to consume most efficiently. Eat what you want in SMALL MEALS throughout the day (don't skip meals or you'll lack energy and likely over-compensate later in the day), park the car as far away as possible and WALK whenever and wherever you can, take the stairs and NOT the escalator or the elavator, avoid processed foods and pop, drink lots of water, eat home cooked meals with lots of raw vegetables, raw fruit and VARIETY, your body needs ALL foods but in moderation - NOTHING is good for you in EXCESS. Don't eliminate your favorite foods, even foods loaded with fat. Denial always leads to binge eating - so enjoy five potato chips every day instead of succumbing to 500 potato chips in one sitting on the weekend...and if you think you are 5 or 10lbs overweight, you are probably JUST FINE...Eating is one of lifes pleasures, it should not be such a chore or a vice...ALL THE BEST (^_^)
