Because
He was not God, he was Jesus son of Mary PBUT, used to eat, sleep, grow up and all other human qualities not suitable for a Magnificent God particularly humiliation on the cross and death. Why should God scarify when He can save people without humiliation and sacrificing? God the Greatest the Magnificent doesn’t play silly games all praises and glory is into him. Respect God as you should before you face a horrendous accountability on the Day of Judgment for not using your smart brain that He bestowed on you and you just preferred blind illogical faith.

To Brad below: thank you for your answer because it just demonstrates the whole confusion and the difficulty you have in your faith. Simple math: 1+1=2, how you make 1=3?

Colossians 1v15
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation"
This scripture clearly shows that Jesus had a beginning and was created by God, therefore indicating that he is not God, but is the son of God.
There is no scriptural backing for the trinity belief in the bible, only that the Father and the son are seperate beings. The trinity has its origins in Babylon, not with the bible. The holy spirit is Gods active force.
Therefore Jesus was praying to Jehovah God, his heavenly father and not as the trinity depicts, himself.

In John 20:17 and Revelation 3:2,12, Jesus calls God "My God." Why would God call Himself "My God"? It has to do with Christ's relationship to His Father. Even though Christ is the eternal God Himself incarnate, He is still a different person from the Father. As a man and as man's representative (Son of Man), Jesus' person was dependant on the Father and, like us, looked to the Father for strength, guidance, wisdom, etc. Therefore, God the Father was the God of Jesus. The Father is the God of the Son, but it doesn't imply inferiority, only a difference in roles.

God is our divine creator first and formost, and He has a divine purpose in our life, to prepare a Christian people to become the bride of His son Jesus when Jesus returns for His church, the bride at the rapture.

In order to do the many things He has to do to accomplish , God had to send His son Jesus to earth in human form, so Jesus was born to Mary, a virgin. God also comes to us in the form of the Holy Ghost, which is who speaks to our hearts and enters into it when we accept Jesus as our savior.

All three are what is called the trinity. It's not that complicated at all It's the willingnes or unwillingness to accept God's plan that can make things easy to understand or not to understand, depending of whether or not you accpet God and His son Jesus.

Revelation 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

People want to know the purpose in life, well, here it is.

It is The Father, The son, and The Holy Ghost. Jesus prayed because he too at one time was in the flesh. (He walked the earth). God is his father, and Jesus needed forgiveness too. When Jesus was crucified, he prayed one last time as he hung on the cross dying. He asked God to forgive them, because they know NOT what they do. This is why today, we can pray to Jesus, and ask him for forgiveness. It is beautiful.

Jesus isn't God, he is the son of God. Yes, they are 3 in one, the trinity. But the son isn't the father. He prayed to the father, God.

I know right.!
If Christians always says Jews are god’s chosen people. Then they should listen to Jews belief/statement on Jesus. Jews always rejected that Jesus is God or son of God.

He was sent to earth as a man. He lived, ate, breathed, and labored as a man. He bled and died as a man. That's why he knows and understands our every pain and heartache. He set an example for us to follow. He prayed to God the Father as he was in the flesh at the time.
