I am ready to break up with my girlfriend because I felt she really doesnt care about what makes me happy.
On my birthday she actually caught an attitude because I wanted to hang with my all male cousins and not with her. Although she had to work, I still made time to have dinner (she works at a restaurant) with her and spend some time with her on my birthday. I had to borrow her car (since we carpool) to catch up with everyone else while she was at work. When I texted her to confirm what time she was going to be ready, she told me to be back 1 hour before she got off. I was mad because I know what time she gets off and kinda knew she wanted me away from my friends. I sat from 11pm to 12 midnight the day of my birthday helping her with her crowd at her job. When I told her I wanted to go back to the get together when she got off, she started sulking and made me feel guilty for not including her.
Was it that fair? Am I missing something ?

It honestly sounds like your Girlfriend is a control freak..but its completely normal...tons of females do it..it can be just as simple as an insecurity..or she wants you all to herself. she also could have figured that if you out for your birthday with all guys..anything could happen..females sometimes have very bad trust issues...talk it out with her and maybe you two can work together to fix the problem rather then break someones heart.

I find it difficult to believe you're ready to throw in the towel behind one event. Sounds to me like trouble has been brewing for a while and this was just the match that lit the fire.
I believe both of you were at fault in this instance. Why didn't the two of you sit down before your birthday and discuss what would be done. Couples always assume that when a special event occurs they will automatically spend time together. Nothing is wrong with doing the couple thing...but there's also nothing wrong with giving each other space.
I cannot understand actually why you wanted to go back with 'the boys' after midnight to hang out. But its probably just my woman's POV. I can see how she probably became irritated at not feeling included but hey - she should have just taken her car and went out with the girls.
Maturity also plays a factor. How old are you guys? I mean if you're still a little young then shucks throw in the towel and enjoy life. Stop playing the "Hart-to-Hart" game and live a little. Don't be a dog...but just be honest if you aren't ready to settle into a relationship and uphold the duties of such....then just be single and date a little bit.

WOW!!! That's just messed up if you ask me. Seems like your girlfriend has trust issues and is very insecure about the relationship which can...as you see...lead to serious problems. It doesn't seem like you're the type to hang out with "they guys" on a weekly basis so for her to give you a hard time to do so on your birthday is plain wrong. And to have you wait an hour ON YOUR BIRTHDAY...hmmmm not good. I don't know buddy seems like you have to really sit and think this one through...is this how you want your life to be? I mean they are your cousins....what's the big deal? I don't know I am very flexable with my husband and that's why things just "work" for us. He's not one to go out but on rare occasion he asks me and Im totally ok with it. He calls to check in every so often (not b/c i make him but b/c he wants to) and gets home at a decent hour. And to answer your question NO it wasn't fair of her!!!!!!!

well I see her point.You see as a woman myself,and having been there I can honestly say she is feeling like she isn't a high priority on your list.She may be feeling like you take more time out for them than her.I also see where you are coming from and that all guys need their guy time.I suggest setting up a time every week when it's all about her.Spend all day with her,but make sure she knows she must compromise in return.If you give her time with you that is just hers,she must give you time that is just for you.And she does care about making you happy,why else would she want to spend all the time she can with you?give her a chance.sit down and talk about it and tell her just what you wrote in here.

she is deffianatly jealous, and sure you should have time with your friends, andhave a great time if she really wanted you to spend time with her on your birthday(if she really cared about you, and your birthday) then she would have taken that day off, and gave you a lap dance, and a striptease, or whatever you, and her do. i say break up with her, but let her know why you are breaking up with her tell her she is a selfish b**** i hope that this has helped

you are a but head if you wanted to hang out with just boy than you should have plan it a head of time when only boys hang out girls think thier up to no good which is trun sometimes. but she i a butt head to for makeing you sit for an hour but you should have invited her after she got off work. you are boyfirend and girlfriend right.

YOu two should hav compromised. She shouldn't have asked you to come an hour early to her work and you should have included her with you after she got off.

She is probably unhappy that you don't want to be with her on your birthday.
If she isn't important to you, and you don't want to be around her, then, yes, you should break up.
