Probably not, but a simple blood test can determine if you have an underactive thyroid.

You don't give your age. Women have a harder time losing weight after 35 to 40 when perimenopause starts. Despite what the doctors say, many medications can cause weight gain and/or prevent weight loss.

Portion control is important. Counting calories does help. Eating several helpings of fresh vegetables and fruit daily gives you energy and supplies you with the neccessary vitamins and minerals. Drink water instead of sugary sodas. Eat small amounts of protein ( like meat , yogurt, cheese, etc.) at each meal; drink low fat milk. Eat lots of salads with a vinegarette dressing. Avoid bottled salad dressings that have high fructose corn syrup. Don't overload on carbs.

Read food labels to determine what is in the food you eat. Avoid fad diets. Stay away from diet type food products which are loaded with additives.

Watch for the sneaky calories from an extra pat of butter, creamy salad dressings, salty soups and cured meats like coldcuts. Snack on fresh veggies, a handful of nuts, or a small box of raisins.

You seem to do a minimum of 30-60 minutes of daily exercise. Have you tried weight training? Get an exercise buddy to challenge you to work harder.

Get enough sleep. Studies have shown that people who do not get 7-8 hours of sleep per night have a more difficult time losing weight. Stress can have a deleterious effect on weight.

Most importantly, don't give up. You are doing many things right.

Because you are the right size so stop beating yourself up about it. Not everyone is meant to look like an 8-year-old boy no matter what Hollywood says.

AND IGNORE THE BODY MASS INDEX... scientists are starting to refute it because it doesn't take into account: genetics, muscle mass or overall health.

It's likely your intake. The portion size for losing weight (about 1,000 calories) is not much food. Try eating small portions and increasing your aerobic activity.

When boredom, depression, or perhaps stress causes cravings, find a nonfood way to satisfy them such as going for a walk, calling a friend, going for a bath, reading a book, or even doing some yoga.
