I have had this cat for almost 1 year now. He has never pooped out side his litter box until recently. We got another cat and he didnt like him, and started pooping ourside his box. So we found a new home for the other cat. But hes still pooping outside the litter box, and we cnat figure out why. Hes not sick nor does he act sick.
What do I do, I have to get this behavior to stop.
hes a purebred blue-point himalayan-persian

throwing him out isnt an optian as hes a very expensive cat and is declawed. We did initiate the other cat into the home. We had the other cat for over 2 months and the fighting and **** never stopped. It was worse than my kids fight lol.

There is a site called planeturine.com...really! there is a product there called catscram...it is a box that sends out an ultrasonic sound that cats hate...i used it successfully with my cat.
however, they are very cheaply made and i have gone through four in two years

Whenever you add a new cat to the household, it is best to add another litter box. Many times, they will eventually use the same one. Some cats prefer to have them seperate. He is obviously upset at the cat having come in. If you get another cat again, keep the NEW cat confined to one room with it's own cat litter box and own food dish for a week. They both need this time to adjust, and if you can leave the new cat litter box in the room where you started the new cat out, they may likely prefer that one.

I had a problem like that, too. Keep the box extra clean. Make sure you always use the same kind of litter. If there are particular places he goes outside the box (like behind a certain chair or sofa), cover the area with plastic or tin foil so he won't like it. Try putting another box out for him somewhere, and maybe he'll decide he likes the new one.

have you changed the litter and washed out or replaced the litter box, it might still smell of the other cat. You could also get a squirt gun and shoot the cat when ever it goes to crap outside the box.

the other cats scent is strong in your home. your cat is remarking trying to remove the scent left by the other cat. I cat leaves it scent even through the pads of their feet and places they have licked. the liter box needs to be thrown away and a new one bought because a cats waste is the strongest of its scents. if you recently put the cats food and water beside or close to the liter box the cat will not use the bathroom around their food. so if it is close move it away. clean with a strong cleaner to remove the other cats scent making sure to wash the couch and chairs etc...

i had this problem with our new cat (a kitten ). at first everything was ok. then the new one started using the floor. i picked him up and told him he was bad and gave him a tap on the butt. i cleaned up the poop and pee with soap and water. rinsed the spot with white vinegar. he finally started using the litter box again. maybe he didn't like the smell of the white vinegar.

Wash the box. The litter box may have the other cat's scent in it.

Take him to the vet just to be on the safe side! Animals don't usualy act sick even if they are but maybe he is trying to tell you something is wrong. I know it's gross but have you looked at his poop to see if there was any blood, undigested food or element he should not have eaten?
Make sure you give him lots of love!!!

Is his liter clean? If it is then try relocating his box OR buy a new one, the old one may still have the other cats smell...
