I imagine that my answer would depend a great deal on what he went to jail FOR. A man who displays behaviors that get him sent to jail might not be the best choice for a life-long mate...
Being pregnant does complicate things, but compounding the problem by marrying someone who may be setting her up for a lifetime of legal fees and long absences isn't going to be in anyone's best interest in the long run.
If he's in jail for some minor problem AND he's actively seeking help to resolve it, whatever it may be, then she needs to decide between waiting for a "proper" wedding day or settling for a jailhouse wedding that will send a strong message of support and devotion to her love.
Tough choices, but they are up to her. Unfortunately, people who are set on a course of self-destruction rarely listen to reason, even from sisters who obviously care about them.
Good Luck to both of you!

I would love to say that it would be a great idea for her to marry him, but I am going to say it's not. I am not sure the reasons for his incarceration, but if he is going to be in jail for a long time, it would be better for your sister to wait to be married. It will give her time to see if that is really what she wants.
A man in jail will tell you pretty much anything to keep you around, and when he gets out really tries to make good, but usually it falls apart after a short time. If he is deeply into the criminal behavior, it wont change once he is released. There is nothing wrong with your sister having her child out of wedlock, or even to wait until after she gives birth.
In the end though- it is will be ultimately up to your sister. It is her life, and she will have to decide what would be best for her and the baby.

Having a man in prison only makes things worse. Why did he break the law? Will it happen again? If she marries him in jail and then when he gets out what will happen? Men in prison need a woman on the outside, because they need someone to visit them and so that they can look forward to a visit. Honestly, I feel it is a BAD idea. Look at the future, is the father of this child be in it's life? Will he be in and out of prison? It just makes your sister's life just more difficult than it has to be.

No, I think it is a terrible idea. She is in love with a man who is behind bars? She is going to have his child? This man could end up killing her and her child down the road. He cannot be trusted. She should call the wedding off and get some professional help. She obviously has very low self esteem if she picked a con man to be her husband. She can do much better then that.

she should wait till he gets out and then give it time to make sure that is what she really wants. there is no life having a husband and father that is locked up.
