The difference between what's going on now and MLK is that he had a legitimate grievance, what we have now is shameless opportunism. Frankly, Mexico really needs to buy a clue on this one, and we need our borders enforced, and our employers need o figure out the ID issue. There's 280 million people in our country, plus all our guests, I'm positive that if we put our heads together the fake ID/illegal alien thing will dry up, and blow away.
I think one big part of it, to encourage/ensure some co-operation from Mexico on this, would be to go ahead and ask their financial assisance in defraying deportation costs. If one of your kids went to the mall and wrecked something, you'd be paying for it, right? Well, if america's the Mall, their 'kids' are wrecking the window displays, and the shoplifting alarm is going off. Mexico, as a good 'parent', needs to start assuming some financial responsibility for what goes on, start picking up the tab for healthcare costs, etc etc etc. Responsibility's a bear, but in the long run it has good effects.

I think that the word "racist" is being thrown around with the intent of "scaring" people into backing down from something they believe. THAT is what is wrong with the "racial issue" you speak of.
And I think the ones standing up are more "racist" than the ones opposing. Why, you ask? Because not all illegal immigrants in this country are Mexican. But it seems that the pro-illegals only want to take up their cause. They act as if Mexican immigrants are the ONLY immigrants. They are not. There are people of every race, religion, nationality and background that are here illegally. The ones here illegally should be gone - that is it. They are breaking the law. It's that simple. Anyone arguing to the contrary is not looking at the FACTS.

People in power or who seek power often use anything including racial tactics or innuendo to create fear of other people thereby rallying those inclined to their point of view to their cause. Trouble is their cause is only their own personal power. Unfortunately, people of all ethnic backgrounds can be, and often are, guilty of this type of manipulation. Let us all hope that MLK, Jr. was not the last of his kind. Their are many people fighting for social justice for all people, maybe it is a sign of some growth that such groups are not alwats identified with a particular ethnic group.

The only reason the Mexicans can use the racial card is because they are the only ones invading our country by the millions! If it was the same flow from other countries it would have been stopped long ago! So I am not a racial leader but a patriot!

I agree with you. look at people like Jesse Jackson and Farrakhan. It seems whenever there is a black issue they came running. Looking for the free press and usurp their power where it is not needed. MLK was for every person to have the same right regardless of race, creed, color, nationality or orgin. Yes, he was getting the blacks their "equal rights" but I would guess that if he were around today he would be for everybodys freedom.

I get tired of people bringing race into a situation just so that they can sway the outcome their way. If you tell someone they are lazy it should not become you hate me because I am _________. (fill in the blank as your area fits.) If I get on to an employee and call them lazy it has nothing to do with their color, ethnicity, or religon, only their work ethic.
