He made the whole creation. It belongs to Him, not to you or anyone else. So, like it or not, He gets to make the rules.

I'd rather trust God than people any day.

Totalitarianism is a very human thing, something very dark, not something of God. Man rules over others by way of force, fear, power, etc. God rules His kingdom by love, which is a big contrast to any human government, even democracy. So far, the very imperfect man has at best come up with democracy.

Col. 1:13

"Who delivered us out of the authority of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love"

It is God's love that contrains us. I love Him so I want to please Him, be like Him, know Him, love Him more. I want to have the same mind as Christ. God is love. When God lives inside a believer, the source of love is also dwelling in that person. It is this love that rules us, yet we do it willingly. We want to because we love Him so, not because we have to or else off with our heads.

Democracy is more about opinions and mob rule, which is based on something temporary. One day democracy will say it's okay to have slaves, then it will say it is wrong. It is wrong, but the point is democracy is far from perfect and is at best the best man can come up with. No love there.

God is the opposite of totalitarian and He created democracy. He's the one who gave us free will. Just because most people abuse their inner democracy and act the totalitarian, doesn't make God one.

If God FORCED us to do His will...that would be totalitarian. He let's us use our free will...what could be democratic than that?

Because god doesn't exist, but the pushy, bossy, Hebrew tribal chiefs who made him up to scare their people into further obeying their demands did, and they weren't too keen on Democracy. Democracy wouldn't have worked for them anyway.

God is not man. Man can not comprehend the mind of God. You cannot apply man's logic to God. It is as foolish as chasing the wind.
