I mean no disrespect to anyone, but how do we know? I did go to a born-again christian church for a few years, but I left. The Bible is a book written such a long time ago, and no one has ever answered my question about this. They say just have faith. I am a person who needs proof. I studied a lot about the Holocaust and all of those wonderful Jewish people who perished at the hands of those animals. I ask my friend Josephine who is a strict born again christian where all those people went since they did not believe in Jesus. She says well of coarse they went to Hell where they will perish in the enternal flames forever. I just can not accept that. Also, I watch a lot of shows about the paranormal like Sylvia Browne and John Edwards. I saw a photo a man took of his 2 year old son and there was a person lurking in the background that was not there when the photo was taken. Sylvia said that was the childs spirit guide captured on the photo. How do you explain this?

Of all the books ever written, only the Bible gives reasonable answers, consistent with reality, to the four main questions of life:

- How did we get here?
- What's wrong with the world and why?
- What can I do about it? How should I live?
- What happens after I die?

The Bible also contains a great deal of information about history and science, not a bit of which has ever been disproven. As the Bible says, those who disbelieve do so willingly and at their peril.

There's a lot of fake stuff out there, as well as demonic stuff. The Bible tells us about both, warning us not to be deceived.

God bless you.

here check out this website http://www.equip.org/free/DB011.htm
then do some independent research. just believing in something does not make it true, you are right, you need evidence for credibility.

Here are some reasons why I believe. The Bible was written by 40 different authors from a wide spectrum of backgrounds over a period of over 1500 years. Yet they all correlate on one central theme of God's plan for humanity and the relationship between God and man.

Also, the Bible has prophecy, which it claims to be God's signature. No other religious book contains prophecies like the Bible's. The Bible has over 300 prophecies in the old testament for Jesus alone that all were fulfilled in the new testament, hundreds of years later. How else could this have occured unless it was God inspired?

First, I have studied Christianity in college and studied the Bible enough to realize it is a cultural study on how to live your life. The writings do an excellent job of documenting culture. This is a huge leap away from being "the word."
According to the Bible god is infalible and most born-agains will agree. However, they state that salvation will only come when Jesus is accepted as lord and savior. That being said, what happened to all those who walked this earth prior to Jesus birth?
Does this mean god has created inferior beings? How do Adam and Eve get grandchildren? There are many stories in the Bible that are not in keeping with "the word." And, understanding when the gospels were written let alone translated lowers its credibility as "the word." Furthermore, we see as one of the ten commandments "Thy shall not kill", yet in Acts of the Apostles Aninais and his wife are slain for not giving ALL their money to the church.
In the end, humans seek answers to complecated questions and religion is the answer. By having "faith" people eliminate questions and can justify anyting. Faith cannot be proven nor can it be disproven, so for this man hearing someone has faith is not impressive to me. However, if it makes them happy....go for it.

I am a Christian, and I think you have been guided the wrong way. I don't believe all the Jews are gone to hell, and if you want to know for certain whether the Bible is truly God's word, then speak to a pastor from a Pentecostal o. I would love to answer yor Baptist churchur question in full, but it would take up to much space. Don't stop searching, you will find.

How do we know the Bible is the word of God?

Because of the harmony of the books. Because of scientific things found in the Bible that the writers could not have known. Because of the accuracy and detail of prophecy written hundreds of years before it was fulfilled.

Because of the drastic change of lifestyle of many believers. For example, most of the apostles suffered horrible punishment and death because of their belief. If this was just a hoax, why would they suffer so? What they wrote was true. They saw Christ risen from the dead (as did hundreds of other people). They saw the miracles. They knew they were following, and teaching the truth!

Also, faith is not the opposite of proof. Notice in Acts 2, Peter referred to prophecies, the writings of David, and his word was further backed up by miracles. He showed them proof.

how do you NOT know? the message of the cross is foolish to those headed for destruction .And how do you know whether or not any of those people that persihed didn't recieve Jesus? FOR the millionth time you CANNOT reason with your CARNAL, HUMAN, NATURAL mind that which is SUPERNATURAL. You and all those that don't want to believe can run yourselves ragged trying to figure out God and can't . He doesn't need to supply proof to you are anybody else! You Choose by faith to believe or you don't. Stop trying to reason with something your primal mind can't grasp. Gods thoughts are not yours our His ways your ways. HE is the Creator not you, not some other fake tree god or water god ect..There is only one True God. And while you're going around listening to Sylvia Browne and John Edwards, didn't learn anything in the church you were in about not listening to people like that ( who are trying to contact spirits of the dead- it goes against the Word of God). You in my opinion are in dangerous territory when you start delving into the paranormal/occult things..BE VERRRRY CAREFUL.

I can only speak personally that 20 years ago in the midst of a depression I cried out to God and said if he was real he could have my life. At that moment I felt the whole room fill with God`s presence and I knew he was real. Before that I looked at the Bible and nothing made sense in it once I had an experience of knowing God was real I opened the Bible and the words came alive. Best to start in the New Testament. God says in his word "that His word is God-breathed and inspired by Him" but to believe that you need the faith and belief in God. Instead of asking if the Bible is real ask God to prove to you that he is real and if you MEAN it He will and you will have no doubts. Bless you.

I am firm in my Christian Faith... yet I know that we have no inerrant text of The Bible today. ... man has been mucking about with it from the begining and all of the original text, which was dicated to the original scribes by God, no longe exist.... yet... it is still possableto tind God's word by the leading of The Holy Spirit... The Salvation message has been preserved in the hearts of the believers...

too many of the "modern" texts areso corrupt as to be not sutable for serious study... But it is by faith and the leading of The Holy Spirit that we of The Christian Faith continue to seek God's word...

It dose not matter what you or I may think of the fareness of God's actions..... one either accepts God and His Word... or not... if not then no one has any right to complain for receiving what is the fait of all who reject God..

Those who come to God in The Way he proscribes will receive His free gift of Salvation.... Those who do not will be lost.... it is a great sadness to God that the majority... the vast majority will not accept Him.... That is their loss....

There are no "spirit guides"....all of the so-called paraormal crap is all from the forces of evil... there aint no such things as ghosts... what are ;precieved as such are evil spirits posing as the lost souls...these evil forces are very real... I personal have had three incounters with them that I know for certain were of evil...anbd suspet others but can not state for certain...and yes these evils can some times be caught on film...

Whether you or I can "just not accept" God's actions is of no importance.... God makes the rules... if I or you do not agree we will have to suffer the consequeces of our actions... you and I are free to do as we damn well please... I do not...because I do not want to be damned... but you can goahead and do what you want

I offer you my testimony by the following link. by the menu there you eill find my Bible page as well for more on my pov regarding you Bible question
