my dog is a rotwiler germen sherpard mix and he has been scraching him self uncontrolably.His skin is now like a weid almost purple color and he has sores all over his body.he will wake up from a soud sleep and eather start to lick or itch him self. You definitely need a vet visit ASAP. He's going to need oral medication to fix this. Sounds like a severe allergy, infection or mange (which are mites in the skin). You need a correct diagnosis in order to treat correctly.

I would have a vet check him out to make sure everything is okay... if he was just scratching, I wouldn't worry; but since his skin is discolored, he has sores and is losing hair, I'd let the vet diagnose and treat this one. Good luck!

sounds like mange or something like that
a home remedy from the old days was a mixture
of motor oil and sulfur...but your vet may have something
better to use especially if he stays in the house

Have you put any frontline on him at all?? I wonder if he has fleas I have seen them make a dog go crazy like that.
Okr just give him a good oatmeal bath and see if that helps him at all.

some dos are born with bad skin take him or her to the vet and maybe find out if a medical shapoo might work!good luck!

if he is already starting to lose hair, its not a simple flea problem..the vet gave me Dexamethasone for my dogs..try to ask your vet for the possible treatment asap..

go to the vet...could be bitten by insects or he's got ezema..keep his sleeping area clean and feed him with only quality dry food and lots of water..

maybe he has fleas. my dog has fleas and he is losing fur and his skin is pink and really dry.
