Nope. The expiration date is the last day that the product may be sold. It has nothing to do with expiration or spoiling of the food. A sealed container of milk may last several days past the last sell date. If opened, and used often, less time. Most foods are similar. The sell date assures rapid turnover of food products and insures a relatively usable amount of time once the consumer brings it home.

It's the recommended date. I would discard any remaining milk past the expiration date. It's safer.

they are reasonably accurate . Be careful though some milk says "SELL BY " and then you can extend it out a week from there . If it says use by then do not generally use after the date . Nose is still the best way to test milk .

no, not exactly. depending on how cold your fridge is, it could expire before the date....or it can last several days after. just make sure the lid is on really tight. your best bet is to smell the milk before you use it.....that is your best way of tellin wether it is good or not..

i totally agree with goshawk, i have worked in a dairy section of a huge retailer and i know about the codes etc. the date is the last date it can be sold.

Sometimes they aren't but your refrige has to be very cold so the milk won't go bad....
