Is it ok to DEMAND that simple movies be removed from theatres, or books be outlawed and then get upset when anyone demands that churches be abolished for 1st Century views?

they should ban all violent movies, except For "The Passion", of course. We must have our sadomasochist snuff film for the children to watch and get saved by.

I am a Christian and I am not against free-speech. I am not against other religions. However, when I speak the Truth, about Jesus Christ, others are often the ones who don't like it and get upset. I personally think that nudity and swear words should not be allowed on regular T.V. Am I going to make it my life's mission to have it taken off T.V.? No. I don't watch it, or allow my son to watch it. I think that there are some Christians who do make it their life's mission. I don't think that it is wrong, it's just not my way of handling it. It is not for others to judge all Christians based on this. I respect other people's views and opinions, but I think that if you state yours and I listen, then I should be able to state mine and you listen. Also remember that it's non-believers who do this sort of thing too. Remember the person who wanted God taken out of the "Pledge of Allegiance?" And that website is talking about Catholic's in India. Christians have just as much right to oppose things as anyone else. I think people just tend to get more offended when Christians do it. There are more people than just Christians who are against gay marriage, but they're usually the only ones you hear about opposing it. I hope that I have made a little sense, and maybe helped you to understand.

Some may be against free speech, how ever there is this thing called SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Banning books and movies simply because it violates someones moral or ethical stand point is concidered CENSORSHIP. I remember when Madona's "Like A Prayer" pissed off the Pope but people were still allowed to listen to it. It is a song, nothing more, likewise with many movies. They are entertainment and should be viewed as such.

Christians are EXERCISING thier free speech rights when they protest in the way you describe. They are not working toward a government ban on anything, which would show a bias against free.
The ACLU on the other hand seems to want to ban the use of any christian related words in puplic. That does show an anti free speech bias.

Almost any extreme organization is against free speech, whether is religious or otherwise. The difference is, some people try to get things banned and others use scare tactics. For instance, if you slip up and say something that's not politically correct, hard core liberals try to scare you into their line of thinking by labeling you a bigot, homophobe, anti-semite...etc. All people want free speech as long as people are saying what they want to hear.

You would notice that in any community, there will be a group of people who differ with the general mass. If Christians have been against free speech none of this would have come out..

Christians invented free speech!

It is the Muslims who are trying to stop it dummy.

Iranian President just issued a decree BANNING 2000 words from use in Iran because they were too Western
What do you call that? Are you too afraid to speak out against that or are you only going to criticize those whom you know won't hurt you?
Quite making ignorant statements about Christaians, Pal, and get informed...masybe then you won't look so stupid!

Just like people of any other faith, or those with no faith at all, some of them are, some of them aren't. Some people are just a s s holes who frequently seek to stop people from saying and doing things that contradict their personal beliefs and point of view. Some people are against free speech, or in favor of it only when it's convenient for them. And though some of them are motivated by a particular religion, it has to do with who they are, more than what they believe.

I was baptised a christian, but do not follow Christianity. I acknowledge Christ as a great teacher and spiritual guide yet cannot follow Christianity as I find it too aggressive.
My God is loving and gave us free will to make our own mistakes, for learning from ones own mistakes is the best lesson of all.
So why would the "God fearing Christians" fear God?
Why would the Christian God punish us for our mistakes?
Why do Christians paste great portions of the bible to every question on religion?
Why do Christians not have a mind of their own?
And finally WHY DO CHRISTIANS SEEM TO WISH THAT ANYONE NOT IN THEIR EXCLUSIVE CLUB, GET CAST INTO HELL?

Not much love, tolerance and forgiveness there then.

I loved it in Richfield, Utah where the moms of the area voted against the videos Jesus christ superstar, Tommy, Hair, as all to fringe and out there, but they let the Texas chainsaw massacres play. I think Christians hate hearing anything that doesnt agree with their views, the ones they dont back anyway.

No, true Christians are not against free speech. If you look to history you'll see that Christians have been beaten, killed and fed to lions just for saying they believe Jesus is the son of God. I for one could care less what miscreants choose to read or watch, you do have free will.. at least that what my God told me ..... PS ...it seems to me the only group people feel should not have free speech are Christians
