Atheists cannot say with absolute certainty (and they know it) that there is no God because they haven't been everywhere and seen everything but yet God-fearing masses across the world are suppose to look foolish because we believe. How foolish is it for you tell me whats in the box when you have never opened it yourself. Athesim is a religion and very poor one at that. A religion that would only attract men in search of power and greed for themselves. The man who is secure in his own hands is either God himself or severly delusional of how powerless he really is. Even our President looks to a Higher Power. Is our national leader an idiot too. Is the face of the most powerful nation of the modern world, cluless too? Just because God doesnt bend to your will, you throw a temper-fit and decide you dont believe anymore. But see thats okay because you may not believe in God but God surely believes in you.

I love what you wrote...you seem to actually think alot about things...it's refreshing to read. Certainly part of human disease is that we do think we know everything, that we think we're the center of the universe, and that the world owes us everything. We blame others for our suffering, we won't take responsibility for our actions, especially our "negative" actions. (We easily take responsibility for our "good" actions, however). It's amazing and fascinating and we do assume to know all there is, when every day we can hear or see something we've never heard or seen before. The illusionary energy in this world is so powerful that it actually can convince us that there is no God. Even though proof of His existence is inside us and all around us. Our very existence is proof of His existence. The thing is, deep in the psyche of all living things is this knowledge of God's existence, and it filters out through our minds and false egos and then through our senses, and our interpretations of God are varied as all our different desires and temperments. Including atheists. We accept, or we do not accept, God's existence to suit our own desires, and we seek a "religion" to take shelter of that supports our theories and speculations about the way we want to deal with God's existence (or non-existence). And where does the real, uninterpreted, undiluted pure knowledge of God exist? Within us, and it is possible to see this Truth if only by our own sincere desire to know it, and to do what it takes to embrace that Truth. God does believe in you, in all of us...He proves that every single day by giving us opportunities to see Him, feel Him, love Him...He knows we'll come around sooner or later.

Wow! Have you got a mess in your head! To begin with, atheism REASONS there is no god. And their guess is quite logical, too. I mean, if "God" hasn't shown up for all of these years, why should we assume he exists? And don't give me that crap of the miracles, and how else could the world have been created, because those questions aren't necessarily answered by saying it was god.

Secondly, if you call Atheism a religion, then I know more about religions than you do. Atheism is by definition not a religion. There's no set of beliefs, no set of rituals, nothing. There's not even a gathering of alleged followers.

Thirdly, what power and greed are you talking about? Most powerful people and most greedy people are Christians! How would an atheist get power, BY being an atheist? Power is granted by people, and most people would not grant power to an atheist.

Fourthly, your president (if you're American) is an idiot, all right. And it would take too long to tell you all the reasons I have to support my opinion.

Fifthly, it's not I don't believe any more. I have never believed. And it's not because God doesn't bend to my will. It's because I have no reason whatsoever to believe there is a god in the first place.

And finally, I don't give a damn which fairy tale character believes in me. That will not change my life at all.

I've never assumed that I know everything... well, except when I was a teenager. ha ha

I'm in constant search of truth... I love the study of faith, all kinds. I think there is a higher power because all the complex things around us. I can't ascribe to the big bang theory... creation out of nothing... I just can't see that happening.

I also think that Christianity is a male-dominated religion. It seems that every turn in The Bible, starting from the beginning, points to women being a curse. Example, Eve gave the apple to Adam and on through the versus men lord over women. I just don't buy it anymore.

Not saying that some parts of The Bible aren't true, but I consider that the authors were all males AND this book has been translated from many different languages over thousands of years. There has to be something that was lost in the translation... example Jesus goes from a twelve year old child to his thirties. What happened in the years between? Hmmmmm... I just have a feeling something is missing. This is why I like to look at the big picture and study what others believe. Your way may not necessarily be my way. I respect all beliefs though... in faith there is power.

"Atheists cannot say with absolute certainty (and they know it) that there is no God"

Well that depends on your definition of god, but sticking to what you're saying, I agree. Very few things at all can be said with absolute certainty. You can't say you are absolutely certain that the sun will rise tomorrow but you can say it with enough certainty because you have enough reason to. This is exactly how it works when it comes comes to atheists (the ones that deny god's existence) and god. They have enough reason to say that god does not exist. Going by your logic, we should all fear Darth Vader because we can't prove that he doesn't exist somewhere in the universe. We should pray to him because if we don't, he could use "the force" to strike us down at any moment.

"Athesim is a religion"

No it's not, it's the disbelief in or denial of the existence of god(s), nothing more.

"A religion that would only attract men in search of power and greed for themselves."

Yes, every atheist is in search of power and greed. That's why Warren Buffett is giving $31 billion dollars to charity, what a greedy guy he is!

"Even our President looks to a Higher Power. Is our national leader an idiot too."

Yes, although that has nothing to do with his belief in a god.

"Just because God doesnt bend to your will, you throw a temper-fit and decide you dont believe anymore."

Are you assuming that people don't believe in god because they are angry at it? That's not true.

Everyone seems to think this. Some one who makes this argument truly is the more blind one, isn't it want of heaven that attracts you to God? If not you then most religious people are greedy for heaven or afraid of hell, Atheists just don't believe in any of it because it sounds like magic and is very unlikely. And you contradict yourself, no one can say for sure that there is not a God, but you seem fairly certain there is one, so you're on the other extreme of the spectrum. But I can say that man made religion and there were many gods before yours, proof enough for me that none of them are right, right? And yeah our national leader is quite slow, and ignorant.

DuckPhup makes one of the best arguements I've seen for a long time, think about it.

Your question/argument is totally whacked. Atheists do not profess to have all the answers... they acknowledge that they do not. Christians, on the other hand, claim to know the 'truth', based upon 'faith'. That is preposterous. What serves you as a substitute for logic and reason is a logical fallacy (a flaw in thinking) known as the "Argument From Incredulity"... which is a sub-category of the "Argument ad Ignorantiam" (Argument From Ignorance). It goes something like this: "I can't conceive of how this might have come to be; therefore, God did it."

That does not represent a limitation of nature... it represents a limitation of knowledge or intellect. Additionally, it is intellectually dishonest... it does not ACKNOWLEDGE the limitation of knowledge or intellect... it appeals to a fanciful, imaginary, supernatural entity to create the ILLUSION that your cognitive dissonance has been resolved. It substitutes 'faith' for fact and evidence, and 'belief' for knowledge. Neither faith nor belief are sufficient to sustain reason... they are only sufficient to sustain willful ignorance.

This is the epitome of self-delusion.

Some human beings are conceited and most want to live life on their own terms. I think this is the main reason why people don't believe the Bible or want to know anything about it. If the Bible was a party, everyone would be doing it. Alas, it isn't and for the ones who want to do what they want it is much easier to say it isn't true. If you tell yourself something enough times, you mind will start believing it, even if it runs contrary to to evidence presented. The greatest witness that all Christians have is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit leads, and does not come because our minds have formed it. It is more overpowering than anything that we knew before we experienced this. People who do not know God cannot possibly understand this. But if all searched and prayed to Him with an open heart desiring to know Him then they would find Him. Jesus said "ask and you shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you-for everyone that asks receives, everyone that seeks finds, and everyone who knocks, the door shall be opened unto you". People look at this as a cliche, but if you really try sincerely, you will find that it is true. Why do people fear coming to God? They look at Him as a burden imposing rules that we don't want to follow. It is not a burden, it is truth and the truth shall set you free indeed. Once again, not a cliche. But whatever troubles you in your life, personal problems, etc, I suggest you find out if Jesus' words are true. If you have never asked God to reveal the truth, then just ask Him with an open heart. You owe it to yourself to find out. It is God who regenerates us, not us. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. For those of you who think Christians think they are better than everyone else let me just say this. It is by Jesus Christ that we are saved, not by our own doing. Jesus can be for you if you want. He is just as much yours as anyone else's. If someone thinks they are better than you, than they have forgotten that by the gift of God that we are saved. Heaven can be for anyone who wants it. Jesus died for the sins of those who come to Him, and justification is through His obedience to the Father. We are called to take this message and deliver it. I will not look as a non-believer as an enemy; those are my fellow human beings, and they make take the water of life freely as well. Everyone is a sinner, but come as you are. It is the power of God that will lead you to Jesus. Peace to you all.

i think that humans really are as smart as we like to think we are. the truth is that we dont all there is to know about life. the only thing that we truly really know is that everything dies, everything has an end.
btw: i like what you wrote. however i disagree with you. i do not think that atheism attracts people who are in search of power and greed. merely people who dont believe in a higher power, the same way that religious people do. atheism cannot give people power.

Not all humans are conceited and presumptous but you are. That you speak for God has to be the most insane presumption to exist in todays religous battles. In the Bible it says God loves those who love him and your changing his words to say God believes in all humans? Even Jesus says he will turn away people who claim to have done great works in his name because he does not know them, what do you suppose he refers to? Could it be because by passing judgments against others we are not following what he teaches? Could it mean that he wants us to follow his teachings and not the religous leaders because he calls them false prophets because of their presumed status? God sent us his Son to teach all humanity that its not impossible to live without sin, when was the last time you heard any religous leader teach Gods word that agrees with Gods love? Jesus ate and drank with those who by Jewish laws was sinful and he even talked with those afflicted with leprosy, a major sin, yet your leaders want you to believe Jesus was just a sacrifice?

Your actual question is the answer to your rant. I don't know everything. That's why I don't believe. I think it's conceited and presumptuous for Christians to act like they DO have all the answers.

"Is our national leader an idiot too.'- No comment on that one.
