Set up a quiet - out of the way - whelping area for your girl. Make sure it can be heated (if necessary) and make sure you have access to easily keep it clean. Let your dog get used to being in the whelping area and she will know to go there when the time is right.
You might want to start your dog on calcium supplements and switch her food to puppy food as she gets closer to birthing time. Consult with your vet on keeping your girl strong & healthy when she gives birth. Her body will change and it's your job to get her back into shape after she delivers.
Good luck.

Also, start finding homes for the puppies now. The last thing you or your community needs is another litter of puppies show up at the local shelter.
Once again, Good luck.

Take her to the vet. Its quite irresponsible to breed her like this. After the litter get her spayed. Did you know she can die from having puppies?

im guessing yer using a regular kibble. Feed puppy food starting now....till the puppies are fully weaned.

Watch her for the first few days with the puppies. Some moms will chew at the umbillical cord and pull so much that it kills a puppy...

Also after 6 weeks you should buy a weaning formula and get the puppies off milk. Reduce water intake of the mother and switch her back to adult slowly....otherwise her breast will swell and hurt and then more vet bills.

Get your dog spayed b4 she gets knocked up and doesnt make it thru a litter. Breeders have this problem all the time.

Is this her first litter of pups? If it is be sure to have a comfy spot for her to have them in ( she will actually pick the spot) best to not let anyone know accept the person whom she is attached to. My pom had pups ( first litter) and she waited for my hubby too get home to have them. The only thing to do is keep the birthing area QUIET!! no kids or other pets as it may make her more nervous keep an eye on her but stay calm and quiet . An audience isnt what she wants. I hope this helps. Also after pups are born try not to handle them until thier eyes are open or mommy will move them or become aggressive. Keep their bedding clean and dry as well.

I have experince with dat I had dogs all my life all kind except rock willer, pit bull, and a yorkie. And they all had babies right now I have 2 Lhasa Apsos they are one of those dogs that have long straight hair up to the ground and are very small and are on dog shows though we never toke them to dog shows we been having them for almost 5 years. The female had babies when she was not even one yet and 3 times. Every time she has 8 puppies. Though my other dogs before had babies too.First you have to keep your dog healthy while its pregnet that way the puppys can come out health like while its pregnet it good to buy it canned dod food . Secound u can estimate how many dogs it will have by the size of the belly or the kind of dog you have or if it had babies before. When the female dog is ready to have babies it will start to cry for about one hour or two so theres your signal while that is happening its good to give her plenty of water. When a dog is ready to have babies you have to have one cardboard box, one old towel and one dog bed. Because the cardboard box is when the female is going to have babies so it will throw alot of blood now you dont want to put the bed at first because there will be blood all over the bed. While she is ready to have babies you must seperate the father. When its her first time she will be very nervous and cry alot. When she has babies they will come out in little bubbbles which she will have to eat fast in order to let the puppys breath or they will die now if you wan to help her grab a pair of gloves and a sissoir and help her cut the bubbles. Now about the belly button situan the female dog will cut it the string with her teeth or they will just fall out. Once it has babies you HAVE TO MAKE SURE ITS DONE. Now you take the puppys to the dog bed and the female dog will follow the puppys now you have to do this with gloves because here comes the bad news that will have to be the last time you can touch them. Now if your dog is agressive and wont let ou touch her puppys thats a problem which is why you must never teach your FEMALE dog to be agressive if you want her to be pregnet. Now if she is agressive to you take some thing she loves and will get up for like her fav toy or food and she will get up for it then there is your chance to take the puppys and immediently move them to the bed. You can not give her normal milk or human food because she is breast feedind the puppies so they can die becuase the milk will give her worms in the milk she is feeding to them. After you see that they can walk and have SOME teeth here comes the good part now you can thouch them, and have to give hem baths. Your question what do i feed them? a speacialist recomended this to me you can get normal dog food and boil hot water and pour a little bit in to the tray and wait a few minutes untill you see that they are completely soft its good two give them it about twice a week although they will still be breast feeding on the mother its you have to do that, that way they can get use to dog food once you see that the puppys teeth are hurting the mom while she is breast feeding them its time to seperate them because all they would want to do is drink her milk. Once you see that they are ready to eat dog food because they have all there teeth you give them it. also like any dog they would want treats and toy and attention. You can only keep them for a month after that you can sell them or give them away or if you want you can keep them and if you do once they are about the moms size you can unite them again with the father and the mother because then they wont cant to breast feed just play. You can do all this or take them to a vet.

Go to this website. This lady has a list of needed whelping supplies and she has a step by step intructions for how to help your dog whelp. She also has a live birth video and illustrations of what to do. It is great - you can also print a temperature chart from this website! get a childrens hard plastic wading pool to put the puppies and mama dog in. it will prevent the pups from roaming and getting lost in your house, provide security for the mother and can be easily hosed out.

oh - take your momma dog to the vet now to make sure she is getting everything she needs to have a healthy litter.

Actually, you should have asked this before you breed.

However, what done cannot be undone, you can search the net for more information on what to get ready and seek your vet advice.

BTW, do standby your vet's number in case of emergency should your dog has difficulty giving birth.

Take her to the Vet for a prenatal check up and have the Vet's On Call number just in case anything goes wrong.
