Stay away from the catholic church and just accept Jesus as your savior. The catholics do not teach salvation. They teach their own doctrine that is not of God. I know this because I am a former catholic.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

You don't audition. You request to be trained, and the church clergy trains the candidates until they feel they are knowledgable enough to participate in the services.
