I don't know of any American soldiers that have been convicted of raping and killing a family. However, if ANYONE is found guilty of raping and killing a family they should be made to suffer the full punishment as allowed by law.

1- You, as Americans, think that they should be prosecuted before an American court. However, the crime was committed in Iraq and against a 15-year old girl who was raped by at least three AMERICAN soldiers, then shot in the face under her left eye, then burnt. Then her 6-years old sister was shot at the back of her head. Then her father and mother were shot many times.
2- As we can see, all elements of the crime took place there in Iraq .... only the criminals were AMERICAN belonging to the AMERICAN people and the AMER0ICAN army. THEREFORE, they should be prosecuted before an Iraqi court.
3- Although some or many of you say that those soldiers are just individuals, we have to admit that they represent and demonstrate the values of the AMERICAN army and people. To clarify: Why has the USA destroyed Iraq and murdered more than 50,000 children in Iraq because some bad individuals are there (presumably Saddam and his close circle)?
4- Can we say that the United States has to be destroyed and punished because some guys over there in the White House take bad decisions?!
5- I don't think that the powerless now will remain powerless for ever. Kittens will turn into cats one day, and they shall avenge the powerless time: meat for meat, flesh for flesh ... and rape for rape.
6- Seems that you think the AMERICAN soldiers are at high spirits. Nevertheless, others see them no more than murderers showing the AMERICAN values.

When I first heard about this crime, I asked my husband, who has been in the Military for 20 years, what his thoughts were on the crime and how these men should be punished if found guilty. I was expecting my normally sweet husband to say they should go to court in the States and if found guilty, sent to jail. Instead, he said exactly what I was thinking, and that is these men should be tried in Iraq where the crimes took place, and if found guilty, made to pay whatever price Iraq sees fit. I realize usually that is beheading or something else America doesn't do because it sounds so wrong, but I can't have any sympathy for people that could do such a terrible crime. If you don't want to face the consequences of a crime, don't commit one! Especially if you're in a foreign country!I think if their trial takes place in the US, it's going to send a message out that an American can do a horrible crime anywhere, because they'll be protected back home. Let's face, even if these men are found guilty in the US and given the death penalty, our forms of an exaction are a hell of a lot more humane then what they would do to them in Iraq.
I don't care if these guys were American Soldiers, I don't care if people claim they were under stress and just snapped, if they did this (I know I say if, and even though I believe they are guilty, I guess it's only fair unti I wait to hear a jury call them guilty) they need to pay.
I support our Military, I love them and I'm thankful for them, and I know there is only a small handful of bad ones in our Armed Forces, but unfortunately, a few can make the rest of them look bad in the eyes of other countries. And the truth is if someone from another country came into America and raped and murdered one of our citizens, we wouldn't stop until they were brought to justice in America! We wouldn't stand for them to go back to their own country and stand trial, and I think we owe it to the Iraqi people to pay them the same respect. If they did this, they did it in Iraq, not America, and the Iraqi people have the right to bring them to justice.

Exactly what they are doing, taking the case before a grand jury, then if there's enough evidence there will be a trail. Would expect some death sentences to be handed down, some of the men held would get lighter sentences. In light of their being soldiers, members of an occupation force, would expect the court to be harsh.

if its found that they are indeed guilty of that then they should be sentenced as common criminals with no lieniency and if i was the judge i would send them back to iraq to be shot in a public execution. And why shouldnt we hear about these things OC42? I think we need to set an example and send a clear message to our troops that misconduct of that nature will not be tolerated. yeah "only show the good stuff" way of thinking has a name ... its called propaganda and we get spoonfed enough of that every night on the news. They should show graphic pictures of the 40000 plus civilians we have killed in iraq as well as our troop deaths, and quit trying to get everyone to believe there is a "war on terror" over there when in fact all we are doing is setting up a permanent military base.... and thousands of people have died there for this "cause" as well as in my personal belief, a couple of thousand anericans died right here in new york for this bogus "terrorism" war ... yeah just keep candy coating it and showing the good stuff while thousands of people die for a lie. ... wonderful thinking.

Most soldiers are proud professionals, these animals should be stripped and left on the streets of Baghdad with a sign around their neck proclaiming their crimes. or at the very least allow the Iraqi citizens to choose their fate.

Since they are Americans, they should be tried in American courts. They should be given a fair trial by a jury of their peers with both sides allowed to represent their views, facts, and evidence. If they are guilty, they should be punished accordingly. If they are innocent, they should be pardoned with all traces of their name erased from the whole matter.

Since it hasn't been proven that they did rape and kill a family, the soldiers in question have not had their day in court yet. So isn't your question premature?

The military should handle this situation and we should not know what has been done. THe same we should not be hearing about these things. It is not right at all, but no one needs to know what is happening in the war as far aas these thigs are going. It should be handled by the military only

i agree entirely with longroad, they should still get a jury as we have to be fair but they should be tried more harshly as they are soldiers, if they are skilled and disciplined enough to kill who they are orderd then tehy are skilled and diciplined enough to not kill who they are not supposed to. somhow though i have a strange feeling that their supperior officer should also be tried. where was he when they were doing this, or was it his order. we cannot let our soldiers run rampid through Iraq its a country with other people in it not some playground for our soldiers to do what they please in it.
