I have friends who moved there and love it. I may go visit because I like what I see online. I have a 24-foot sailboat with 4'4" inch fixed keel draft that I sail on Belton Lake in Central Texas. It's a deep water lake and popular with the sailboat set. Anything remotely like that in close driving distance to McAllen with marinas for year-round dockage?

i suggest going to Port Isabel...
its close to South Padre Island and they have great restaurants there![i suggest Marcelos...its an Italian restaurant]...and South Padre Island Is no more than an hour and a half away from Mcallen...
