Many things can make your hair thin. Stress is a very common reason for thinning hair and hair often thins following a surgery because of the anesthesia. In the case of the anesthesia the loss is most noticeably around the ears. Vitamins help in the case of stress. but I know nothing that helps when its due to anesthesia.

There are several causes for thinning hair. The most common is a lack in Vitamin B.
My suggestion is to go to your dr., let them know what's happening, and ask for blood work to find what vitamins your body might be lacking. That's always a good place to start.
If it's not lack of B, then you work from there.

relax you are not turning into yoda,(like you were worried) go to a salon where you know they work mainly with clientel of your age, and ask them about it, there is also a hair treatment system called Nioxin, for fine or thinning hair, I am a stylist myself, and some of my clients who are going through kemo use this product and swear by it. but the best I can tell you is just to talk to a good stylist.

are you continually pulling it back in a pony tail, playing with it and putting it behind your ear, curling it,combining it hard? Pulling too tight and continually playing with it creates breakage,

There could be a number of reasons. Your physician could give you a more accurate explanation.

has your period been irregular and have you added a little weight? Could be polycystic ovarian - be careful. I have that and I am on meds for it... see a Dr.
