Isn't it possible to confine them to a room where they can't get at the couch, or anything else you value in your home? Yes you could crate the younger one although it may still be too late to get her used to being crated, and if you are gone for longer than 4 hours, this isn't fair in any case. But as always with dogs, prevention/avoidance is always the way forward.

this dog is showing a good sign of wanting attention. give the dog a toy that he or she can chew and when they start chewing the couche, make a loud noise like stomp or something and tell them no no and then give the dog the toy he can play with, but remember always let your dog know what's wrong and what's right. last but not least show your dog attention and praise the dog when he or she does good. never award bad behavior.

You should buy her some chew toys (or bones),and (I know this is nasty)put some deodorant on your cushions. It gives the pillows a bitter taste so once she/he bites it,they won't want to bite it anymore.

at the pet store they have a spray called bitter apple. you're suppose to spray it on shoes furniture ow whatever you don't want the puppy to chew. they say they don't like the smell or taste and it's all natural. spray bottle of water and a mist in the face when ever it's misbehaving works really well too!

I know someone who did this for behavioral modification. He rubbed jalapeno pepper sparsely on the areas the bit on, just slightly so to make it uncomfortable for the dog to bite. It worked pretty well without harming the dog in anyway.
