The spirit of truth is God. The lying spirit is the Devil. However, the spirit of truth can also be translated to be talking about Christians who are working to help bring others to Christ. Lying spirits could be those who deny that God exists. Lying spirits could also be those professing to be Christians and professing to do God's will only to be far from it --- kind of like these so called preachers who get on TV and ask you to send them money or God will punish them. THAT is definitely a lying spirit!

Yes you should know the difference. If one choice is to lead you in the wrong direction is a lie, and the spirit of truth is by obedience to His Word. For example if one spirit is telling you to leave your husband is of false because in His Word says that God hates divorce.

No, and that is what makes life complicated sometimes. I think if we reach deep within ourselves, most of the time, we really do know the truth, but sometimes, the lie is easier, more attractive, seemingly more logical. Sometimes the truth we reach for is just a lie..we believed it was true--we would swear it was true, but we are mistaken, and that is the power of deception-- So, we just do the best we can do with what we have, try to make good decisions, try to live honestly, and if we mess up, well, we go on--another lesson learned.

If I Listen to the Person Speaking, read enough of what-ever(Book, Article etc.), take the Thought's comning into my Mind back to the BIBLE (Word of GOD), the HOLY SPIRIT will let me know.
Then I can Try the Spirit's too. To see if they are from GOD.
