Kinda makes you wonder.
If we have nothing to work towards, why work at all.
It seems a new world is just gonna be brought to us on a silver platter. Sounds like selling out on life to me. I seriously know who want to know about god and love, but we are here now. This is not a test of sin, it is a test of exploration and imagination. How far can we make it?
Anyways, peace anyways.
Oh yes to the atheists, keep doing what you are doing, you don't need heaven, this is your heaven, and I respest that
P.S. I'm not atheist

Yes, my faith makes the future look optimistic. Even after the harshest winter, spring will come again and life will be renewed. Death is not an ending, but another part of the cycle. All that dies shall be reborn, and all that falls shall rise again.

What I do comes back to me, so I have a lot of control over my life - it's not completely subject to the whim of a jealous or vengeful god.

And even if we humans manage to completely and totally screw up the earth and wipe ourselves out, She will eventually get around to hosting new life, and hopefully the next ones will be more appreciative of Her.

Does your religion make the future look optimistic?

Very much so, in the near future, this corrupt wicked system will be gone, and a righteous new system will exist, where man, women, child can live in peace & security. One Government earth wide that will treat everyone the same. A righteous Government.

Yes.
The main teaching for us Catholics is that we must love our neighbor, the same way we love ourselves. If we were christian enough to do this, I am certain that there is a beautiful future for all of us. Even if not many people get in the "loving" mood, I know for sure that if I do, life always keeps looking better and better. We believe that the best things are yet to come... "in this life" also!

The future always looks optimistic in every religion, simply because those who believe in God have nothing to fear. It is the atheists who actually have a pessimistic view of the world and I really hope they could one day embrace the Lord within them - trust me the feeling is absolutely wonderful and the future is always optimistic if you do!

yes definitely - otherwise there wouldn't be a point.

It's all about a better life - and that means HAPPINESS which is NOT a sin.

I reckon God is a pretty cool guy who wants the best for you and your life. And the best part is that you get to decide what you want and you can have it.

God's not a parental monster waiting to smack you for bein bad. He wants to bless you.

The whole end of the world doom and gloom stuff doesn't really fit into that....

Honestly, I think the main point of any religion is to give hope to people whom at some point in their life...have no hope or see things as hopeless.

If the belief in something "good" is that strong, then it helps many. Sometimes in life all one has is hope for something better. And that's pulled a lot of people and cultures through a hard time.

Yes Tirya, speaks well for our religion, one of hope! And I have known all my life that I was born to be a crone (old wise one). Some of us will be here to teach the children a better way!
; ) ...Mother Earth will cleanse herself...
Blessed Be...

I'm with Tirya in this one. A beautifully put answer that sums up what I believe only put much more eloquently than my capabilities are mentally capable of typing just now at 4.18 A.M.

I'm wicked afraid of the future of religion. As we speak there are "religious" people that are enriching uranium. It is only a matter of time that they detonate nuclear bombs in the name of their lord. It's not my religion that has this dire future, but it is all of our fate's if we don't quell religion.
