when a boss says to tell people.."he's our of the office because he does ...not want to speak with someone"....or when a family member says ..".just say i am not here.."or when someone does not want to talk about their illness to just say,,"oh she's doing fine."..that way the people will just leave it alone...i mean honestly they really don' t care...only your closest friends will care...those situations are ok to do.because you have to do them!!

The examples you gave are white lies that are told when someone is avoiding another person but doesnt want to hurt their feelings or make them angry, it would create more problems to say "yea, he's here but he doesnt want to talk to you".
And sometimes when people answer "oh she's fine" or "Im doing fine" when they're not, they feel they are being polite and not sharing unpleasant details or whining in the other persons ear.

Generally the white lies you are talking about are told because the liar feels he or she needs to be polite and not cause any problems or tension.

Either way someone's going to get hurt or is going to end up with guilt.
