NO YOU CANNOT DRILL between the fridge and freezer!
YOU might need coolant or to defrost the freezer...
There is also a temperature dial to turn it higher or lower...
HIGHER no#'s are COOLER...
IF your freezer is full of ICE and SNOW you will need to turn it OFF and defrost it...
TO do that put pans of hot water in IF you can...
they will melt the ice...
TAKE ALL FOOD OUT...old fridges are a MESS to defrost...
BUT too much ice will push the door open and keep the inside too warm.
That makes the motor run down.
DO you hear a MOTOR sound?
IF not you need it repaired and it might be better to buy an UPDATED fridge, it will save energy! Save on your electric BILL.
BUT do not drill holes you will make the COOLANT leak out...
ALSO do not use anything to BREAK THE ICE...
that can ruin your freezer too. Just let it melt using hot water in pans, do not pour the water inside just let it sit on the ice!
That was a BIG mistake of mine a long time ago...
I hit it too hard with a knife and cracked the inside wall and it started to HISS, it was the coolant leaking out!

Drilling between the freezer and the fridge sounds like a REALLY bad idea. It's not only a way to ruin your fridge, you're going to get coolant all over you. And why would you drill a hole between the freezer and the fridge? Are you short?

Possibly you could just use the freezer portion, and turn it up to a fairly warm temp. Then keep everything in the freezer.

clean out the heat exchange coils with a vacuum cleaner. Chances are the dust is creating an unnecessary insulation on the heat exchange coils.
Also, check your seals.

i think you should drill in between them. then you would have really cold food and drinks. I think I'll try this myself. Thanks for the idea. You rock
