An order issued by a judge for the attachement or arrest of a person. The name of a process sometimes given to an attachment issued by order of a court, against an individual for some contempt, or for the purpose of arresting a person accused; the latter is seldom granted unless when a true bill has been found.
If a person fails to appear in court when she has been properly ordered to do so, the judge is authorized to issue a warrant (a court order authorizing a law enforcement officer to arrest someone) for her arrest. A warrant issued this way is called a bench warrant.

If you ever get stop by the police for speeding, running a light, not yielding to a sign ect, Or you get into trouble get arrested make bail and a court date is set for you to be there in court, AND YOU DON'T SHOW UP IN COURT, THEN THE JUDGE WILL ISSUE WHAT IS KNOWN AS A BENCH WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST, SO IF YOU NEED TO BE IN COURT GO. SOMETIMES YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY A FINE, AND MAY PAY THIS & NOT GO TO COURT, BUT BE SURE THAT EVENTHOUGH YOU PAY THE FINE BE SURE YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO STILL GO TO COURT, BECAUSE IN SOME CASES YOU CAN PAY A FINE AND THINK ALL IS TAKEN CARE OF THEN TO YOUR SURPRISE LATER ON DOWN THE LINE YOU MAY RUN INTO SOME LAW ISSUE THAT MAY REQUIRE YOUR DRIVERS LIC. RAN AND IF A BENCH WARRANT WAS PUT OUT ON YOU EVEN THOUGH LONG AGO THAT FINE WAS PAID YOU CAN STILL BE ARRESTED. TAKE CARE OF ALL BUSINESS MATTERS DEALING WITH THE LAW, Because things have a way of comming back on ya if left UNCHECKED.

When you are supposed to appear for a court date and you do not show up you are held in contempt and the judge issues a bench warrant. This mean that the cops will come and arrest you and you sit in jail until your next court date.

It's a warrant from the judges' "bench" for failure to obey an order, such as failing to appear in court. It's as opposed to a regular warrant which is initiated by a law wnforcement agency or the DA's office.

A warrant for your arrest if you didn't go your court date. If you get stopped, you could go to jail. Go to court and get a new date.
If its just for a ticket (speeding) go pay it. You don't want that on your shoulders good luck
