Yes, you could get checkenpox from someone who has shingles. They are the same virus....shingles is just what people develop when they catch the virus after they;ve already had a chicken pox outbreak.

Both chicken pox and shingles are caused by the same virus. You could chicken pox from a patient having shingles or chicken pox. Shingles occurs due to reactivation of the chicken pox virus after the primary chicken pox infection.
If you have chicken pox you are highly contagious so you should be at home (more so ever if your job involves meeting people).
All the best.... Get well soon

yes, you can get chicken pox from a person who's having shingles since they are caused by the same virus. the only difference is that, the person who has shingles had the chickenpox before. what happened was, when that person had the chicken pox, the virus wasn't totally eliminated and just stayed there, and then for some reasons, it got reactivated. once it gets reactivated, the disease is now called shingles. the shingles also affects the nerves (specifically the dermatomes), so the person feels pain. the lesions go around the chest or waist but it can't go around it completely . so it appears on one side of the body only. in chickenpox, you can only feel the itchiness and the lesions erupt all over your body.

Chicken pox is caused by the Herpes Zoster virus and often you get this disease when you are young. In later years, the virus, which was dormant reappears as Shingles by effecting the nerves and produces pain, itch and a rash around the effective area, often on the back. There is an antiviral drug for Shingles. Look both up in Google for more information. PS I am not a doctor, just speaking from experience.

Shingles is not genetic but a virus and is the same virus that causes chicken pox. They are both contagious but chicken pox is passed on by coughing or sneezing while shingles is passed on through direct contact. Shingles can not be triggered by contact with someone who has chicken pox so don't worry about that.Shingles is a triggering of the virus you carry in your own body when your immune system is run down. These are common triggers: * conditions that affect the immune system, including HIV infection * periods of increased stress * excess alcohol intake * long term courses of steroids * chemotherapy or radiotherapy - cancer treatments * medicines used after organ transplants (immunosuppressants If you have any of the early symptoms and get treated right away to avoid complications. It can be controlled so see your doctor if you have any of these symptoms: * high fever * confusion * loss of memory * exhaustion * severe headache * any symptoms affecting the eye area

Chicken pox and Shingles are the same. They are very contagious. Shingles can really be bad when you get them as an adult. Go to the doctor if you think you might have them.

You would have had to be in direct contact with them. Chicken pox and shingles are the same virus.
