"This know, also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,.....false accusers,.....despisers of those that are good,...lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,..."
2 Tim.#:1-3

"But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived....". 2Tim.3:13

Each one of these traits seems to be fulfilled in the deceived population at large...what do you think?

YES. However, it's not fulfilled, rather it's still being fulfilled. Why? It's not over yet. What you just said will only get worse and not end until the end. This generation will NOT pass.
You know what? You think it is bad now? Wait 2 years, and we will look back at today and see where TODAY was a good day !! sad huh?
Gary, look at your own life. everyone of us can say this, 5 years ago was not as bad as today. Right?
coincidence?
God says: What 1 generation accepts, the next will do in what? ABUNDANCE ! There is ZERO parental control. none.

Good Question. Have a nice Day.

There is one prophecy which supercedes all the others... and has been fulfilled. The return of the Jews to Israel.. which took place in 1948.. the beginning of the last days.

All of the rationale and debating, relating to how that came about becomes unimportant, as the prophecy was fulfilled. We are now seeing the other prophecies being poured out upon us. The preceeding civilization destruction (as brought out by one poster) were failures, not because of prophecy but rather by constant wars and invasions... It happened to many others besides the Greeks and the Romans... think of the Incan civilization and how it was decimated. The Mayans ceased for a differnt reason but still had its demise. Russia was another, the Ottoman Empire, on and on. But the were not due to prophecy. Greed and conquest were the prime movers.

Ever since that sentiment was first expressed, people have been sure that they lived in the end times because they looked around themselves and saw that this prophecy had come true. Every age thinks that there was an earlier Golden Age and that people of its time have debased morals. Each generation looks at the next (and we have ancient clay tablets older than the Bible that say the same thing) and says that the new generation lacks the respect, the work ethic, the moral fiber that our generation had when we were their age.
It's like predicting that the end times will come when there are wars, rumors of war, famine and disease. I mean, really, when has that ever in the history of the world not been happening someplace?

Don't forget these...

Mark 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

These things are happeing right now. Jesus is coming back in our lifetime. Praise the Lord!!!

That prophecy applies to so many time periods that it's practially useless. I suppose if we have a long period of peace and prosperity then we'll know that the end times are a long way off, but we've been in turmoil for the last eight thousand years so it's not very helpful.

And people weren't just like that in the day the text was written?

Do you really think he was writing about events 2000 years in the future?

He was writing about events he saw IN HIS OWN TIME. He believed the world would end and the wicked would be destroyed IN HIS OWN TIME.

Hundreds of generations since have read this and thought it was gong to happen IN THEIR TIME.

This has been going on for 2000 years and nothing has or will happen

I believe that the "last days" began with Jesus' resurection. Things have been getting worse and worse since then and popular thought seems to be 'everyone for themselves'. In all of this, we have to remember to do what Jesus would do - Love one another - and help others as much as we can.

What about the Romans, the Ancient Greeks and all the other civilisations?
It could equally apply to them.

I think we've been like that from day one, what is different today than any other time. I will say that it does seem to get worse every generation generally.
