I think you have to look into the cause of the diarrhea with a vet to see what they think the problem might be..

Strangely enough adding pumpkin to your cat's food can help with this. Strange because this can also help with constipation.

Adding 1/2 tsp. psyllium husk to a small amount of canned food might help too. You can buy that in bulk at most heath food stores. It is an inert substance with no taste.

There is a Yahoo group called Holisticat. I suggest you join and take this issue up there. Most are dedicated raw feeders and they won't bash you if you feed commercial food.

In my holistic cat care book fasting for 24 hours is suggested, then feed your cat baby food -- chicken or turkey WITHOUT any onion or garlic. Baby food is not balanced for the cat so this is not a option for long-term diet.

Grooming is the first approach. If a short haired cat, a flea comb is great, and if a longer haired cat, a pin brush. It has prongs for removing undercoat, and the brush side for surface fur. Often when you start, it seems to get worse, but soon levels off. As far as further remedies, it probably is as close as your refrigerator. I have smeared some margarine into the front paw of one of my cats, and she licks it off and the oils help move fur balls through. You do want to smear it in well, as your cat will shake its paw, and you don't want margarine splattering around your home. A pat about the size of your small fingernail would be sufficient. What you usually want to do is move the hair ball through your cat. She will find her own ways of coughing it up should it become too much. Your cat actually processes a lot of fur through its system on a regular basis. Only sometimes does it become too much.

My old female had this problem, the Vet said to give Tuna fish in water can to cat. Should stop problem. Can be caused by hairballs. Or old age. When diarreah stops go to hard food. Make sure you have hard food and clean water at all times. Let them eat grass outside. They know what to eat to help themselves.

Before I suggest anything, I would have to know why the cat has diarrhea. It could be something as simple as a change in diet, or it could be the cat is actually sick- in which case a trip to the vet is very much in order.

Don't ever use a home remedy on any animal unless your vet recommends something. Cats, in particular, are very sensitive and you could do more harm than good.

I don't know how old your cat is but I know my vet told me when my cats were 4 months old and one of them having a problem with diarrhea he said to give 3cc of Pepto. probably for someone younger I would do 1cc and see how that works. you can call your vet and ask them if they have any more suggestions.

Are you giving the cat milk? If so stop it now, and never give it to him again. If not, get him to a vet immediately.

take him to the vet immediately, he could have a serious disease. Also, if you have changed his food recently, this could be a reason, but sometimes cats will have a serious disease when this happens......
