You don't miss anything by being a Christian-- but you do miss the point of belief in religion if you judge others

What would I miss by being a Christian? I would miss the awareness that 'God' is NOT the schizophrenic, arrogant, stupid, cruel and crazy deity Christianity makes 'God' out to be.

According to the Christian religion, here is the meaning of life:

(1) First 'God' decided what sin is, some of which makes sense (killing, stealing) and some of which doesn't (masturbation, being gay). 'He' demanded strict adherence to 'his' laws, and also demanded to be worshiped and adored continuously just because 'he' is what 'he' is.

(2) Then 'God' created a place of eternal fire and endless suffering into which he could toss every soul who displeased 'him'. And instead of zapping the so-called "Satan" from the get-go, 'God' decided to let him hang around and make humans miserable and maybe even entice them to hell. You know, that would be like a mother knowing that there's a child molester in the neighborhood and turning her back while her children play in his yard.

(3) 'God' decided to send a messenger, 'his' son, knowing in advance that Jesus would be rejected by 'his' chosen people and would be killed by them (all of this is according to Christian belief). Although 'God' knew this would happen and apparently wanted it to happen, that didn't stop 'him' from getting in a snit about it, changing the rules, and deciding never to openly communicate with mankind again.

(4) 'God' next decided that everyone would have to believe that Jesus was 'his' son and died and came back from the dead -- nothing else in the human life experience would have any importance whatsoever.

(5) All that earlier business about being good and not sinning was drastically modified by 'God' -- 'he' changed ''his' mind; you could be mean and hurt people and do all kinds of terrible things and still win 'his' favor. All anyone had to do was simply believe in Jesus and that person, no matter how many lives he had destroyed, would be saved from hell and frolic happily hereafter in heaven.

(6) And now, after Jesus had come to be killed by the same people 'God' had chosen as 'his' own (all according to Christianity) morality no longer had any real importance -- since believing in Jesus is all there is -- all that's necessary to be saved. That means that no matter how good, decent, charitable, loving and moral you are, no matter how many lives you touched in positive ways, 'God' wants you to be in agony for all eternity, if you don't believe Jesus was 'his' son.

This is how Christians see 'God'.

From my point of view as a Reincarnationist, what Christians *fail* to see is that their irrational and superstitious beliefs slander and villianize the true God, who is perfection way, way beyond that counterfeit characterization of God in the bible.

Reincarnation is the Rosetta Stone that opens one's eyes to the perfection of the cosmos and God.

What do you miss by being Christian?

- The self assurance that you are capable of free thought and of making your own GOOD quality choices in life. Instead you have a man-made church tell you what to do.

- You miss the tremendous satisfaction you get from knowing that you accept personal responsibility for the choices you do make, good and bad, instead of being able to blame bad choices on Satan or demons and giving God credit for only the good ones.

- You miss out on faith-imposed guilt for being imperfect, which all humans are. Instead you get constant reminders that you are not ever "good enough.'

- You miss out on being able to choose a spouse from the entire worldwide population based on how well your values mesh and whether or not you truly get along well. Instead you are limited to those "evenly yoked."

- You miss out on the freedom to live a totally honest life. Instead you get to live a two-faced life - one face presents the "good Christian" appearance, and the other one, the one you hide from most all is the one that does things that you know is wrong.

- You miss out on requiring actual proven fact before deciding something is true or false.

What do you get by being a Christian?

A life full of guilt at knowing you are never good enough.
A life full of judging others hoping to make yourself feel better and superior.
A life controlled by other humans.
and a life just as unsure of the afterlife, or even if there is an afterlife, but you get to pretend you know there is and spend your whole ACTUAL life, trying to "qualify" for an unknown superior life, instead of living a good life in the known world.

Dearest Rodney, What Christians miss is the boat of truth...there is no hell except the one you perceive, which is dictated to you by other humans who do not recognize themselves as being pure spirit entities in true reality...those that use a single piece of literature...adulterated by powerful religious ancestries...as their rules of "right livelihood".

God is not vengeful, hateful, nor plays favorites...these are human qualities...human interperetations with intent towards their own power & control issues.
To say that you fall short of God's glory, calls God imperfect, fallible, & just plain mean...is this who you feel you are part of? Nay, my friend...you are perfect, created of pure love, a piece of the totality that God is...and you have no where else to go from this life except back to that Godness...why would such a being send parts of Him/Herself to anywhere else?

And Jesus was not crucified for our "sins", he allowed this to happen because he knew Who he was, where he would go....he was exampling the lack of need to fear such endurance in this lifetime because of this knowing...this is what he wanted others to see in themselves...he walked his whole life this way...funny how Christians see death before life...

Rodney, you can quote all you want...pull pieces apart all you choose, but the answers...the truths...lie within you always & all ways...yea, "you have been answered even before you ask..."

NOTHING I have had WAY more fun the last 30 years with the Lord than I even dreamed of in my first 18.

I have more Love and friends that are closer than I could have imagined. I have more people that would lay down their lives for me than I could have imagined.

I have grown as a person and with the skills and talents God gave me, When I came to know HIM I never would have thought I could do what I do now!!!!!

Praise His Holy Name! I sit here with no job. I'm broke and I can't wait to see what He has for me next!!

I'm not a Christian, but judging by the Christians I know, I'd say I'd miss my capacity to have a personal opinion on certain topics. Christians seem to "think" exactly the same, and that is also the same as what the Church "thinks". That's curious, isn't it?
