This is the TMJ syndrome. It is quite annoying and although sometimes it goes away by itself, most often it does not. If you're fortunate enough to live in a country where it is insured for health care, go to a specialist. For more information, look at www.tmj.org. Take care!

It's called TMJ disorder, Temporomandibular joint. You'd be surprised how many people have this problem. For most people it's no more than an annoying pop or crack when the jaw is moved. In severe cases it has been known to cause migraine headaches. There's not really a whole lot that a doc can do about it. But check with the medicos anyway.

That would TMJ.
temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a diarthrosis joint that connects the mandible (lower jaw) to the temporal bone at the side of a skull. As a modified hinge joint, not only does the TMJ enable the jaw to open and close, it also enables the jaw to move forward and backward, as well as laterally.
This is a ginglymo-arthrodial joint; the parts entering into its formation on either side are: the anterior part of the mandibular fossa of the temporal bone and the articular tubercle above; and the condyle of the mandible below.

Mine did that before I got braces and it had stopped by the time that I had them taken off. Do you chew a lot of gum? I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it, although I think that I chewed a lot of gum before braces too... I don't think that the doctor can really do anything to help you, if anything he'd probably say to not over use your jaw, don't eat a lot of hard foods or talk a lot? If anything it'll eventually go away.. or get braces. Don't worry about it, you're not going to die or anything :)

You need to see a specialist in periodontist. I'm not sure, and don't quote me. It may be TMJ, it is a condition of the jaw.

You could have a condition called TMJ. My son has it. You need to see a dentist. They migtht send you to a specialist. Some TMJ fixes itself, some requires wiring the jaw and others require surgery. We will know next week, which one my son will need.

I had a friend who had the exact same problem only about 2 years ago. It is a condition (sorry, I don't remember what it's called) and it's not extremely serious, but if it gets worse, go to your doctor about it. You may have to get surgery, like my friend did.

when i went to the dentist the other day, they asked me the question (on the paperwork you fill out) "have you experienced any locking of your jaw or popping or clicking noises of your jaw?" i'd say a dentist. at least first, he may refer you somewhere if you have a serious issue.

It's just air trapped in the jaw.

i have the same problem, it might be tmj, (Temporo-Mandibular Joint) It may be something else though, so you probably should go see your doctor for sure. My advice would be to not chew gum...
