I think it has more to do with the quality of the joke (lame) than anything else.

I do not know.
It is kind of funny how they take themselves so seriously just like some religous people do.
I think that people could realize that a differing viewpoint or a joke,
is just that. They should not take everything so personally.
But I think people treat each other on the Internet the same as when they are in their car. The rudeness that abounds by them they would never do to you face to face. The internet and the automobile allow a person to feel safe and anonymous so as to reveal a level of venom unprecedented on an earthwide scale.

That's not a joke. That's an aggression. If you post a real joke, which is funny, I will take it all right.

And in other cases, atheist jokes show great prejudice and ignorance about what an atheist really is. In that case, they may not be aggressive "per se", but the fact that they mock atheists not for what they are, but for what outsiders think they are is also offensive.

And mind you, I don't laugh at Christian jokes either, if they are aggressive or offensive.

I'll ask you a simple question - would your Jesus approve of your mean spirited joke or offer those who do not believe a place at his table?

Jokes like that are meant to belittle people and cast them in a poor light - it's not different than what people do when they call religious people stupid for believing in what they do.

Keep the subtle hate going - that's what that does. Good job. Add to the divisions between people. I'm sure your faith will get more people that way.

Its just not funny. Im not an atheist but I certainly dont believe in christian mythology either. Maybe I should tell a joke about stupid christians who think they should breed and proliferate the world. Or maybe a polak joke, or hey lets joke about the jews! C'mon! when you try to insult and belittle another group like that, youre bound to get a few folks giving you s h i t about it.

As an atheist I can laugh at myself. Christians have no tolerance for anything that may offend or refer to their religion in a less than perfect way. Too bad because I have lots of "believer" friends.

Given your avatar is a 969 year old man I would think you could answer that for yourself, but given that you asked I shall answer.
No one likes being the butt of an angry joke. Have a great day.

The asbestos joke wasn't funny. I remember one about an atheist, God, and the Loch Ness Monster that was funny.
