I'm looking into getting a cheap digital SLR. The two I'm looking at are the nikon d70s, d50 and canon rebel xt. Am I going to notice much or a difference between the nikons 6 mp and the canons 8 mp? And does anyone know a place where I can get one of these cameras at a relatively cheap price? Also, if anyone knows of any othere similarly priced cameras other than these two, i would like to hear about them.

Pixels count matters somewhat, but don't let the difference between 6MP and 8MP sway your decision unless that is the "tie breaker." Get the one that feels best to you. ANY of these cameras is a great choice. My wife has a D50 and I have a D70s and D200, so I can say that there's not a WHOLE lot to make you choose the D70s over the D50 if cost is important. Buy the D50 and get an "upgrade" lens (Nikon's 18-70 f/3.5-4.5 DX) instead of the plastic lens that comes in the kit. That's a smarter choice.

i would recommend Nikon. nikon bodies are much more stable and sturdy. they're heavier, yes, but it just feels better than the plasticy lightweight feel of the Canon rebel.
the megapixels should not make a difference unless you plan on enlarging your photos to a very large size. otherwise, you can barely tell the difference.
i think Nikons (in my humble opinion) also pick up colors better.
Nikon d50 and d70 are virtually the same, except very technical differences. http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/nikon/d50-review/index.shtml as for similarities, they both have the same digi II processor, the same 6.1 MP, both compatible with the same kinds of lenses, etc.

but you really have to go to the store and try them out yourself before you decide.

I bought the D50 recently after comparing the Nikon / Canon reviews, and a wonderful camera it is !!!

Obviously, I suggest it - don't think you can go wrong with it ... Go to a camera store and see them for yourself before buying ...

NIKON NIKON NIKON. Unless you move up to the Cannon 20 or 30 series.

i would recommend the canon xt because of the excellent resolution at low light (high ISO). check out www.buydig.com or www.bhvideo.com. great service and prices. you'll want to save your money for great lenses.

Hi, I recommand you to try google picasa.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video clips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google

Download it free in here:
