I think, if there were a Jesus (which I don't believe) he wouldn't care if you smoked or did drugs. He would just care that at your core you're a decent person who doesn't hurt others, that you accept him as your savior, and other bullshit like that. And I agree, churches do brainwash. Religion is all fine and dandy, but church is not necessary if you worship your deity on your own terms.

God is able to set you free from smoking, but you need to co-operate with Him. He know you by name. Cigarettes and drinks will only destroy your life.Your going to church is a waste of time since you have no communion with Him. Your church has not helped you and cannot. Jesus is ready to fill the gap that is between you and Him, you must accept the fact that you are a lost sinner and has no hope. Tonight just as He said to the thief on His right when He was being crucified, he can say the same to you. Will you accept Him into your life now?.
God bless you as you do so.

When you are saved it becomes easier to give up the things that are unhealthy for you because you have the love, support, and strength of God to help you. There is no church that you are ever going to be 100% happy with. Churches are run by human beings, and we're not perfect; we make mistakes. Your focus should be on your relationship with God. Eventually you will find a church you enjoy, even though there will still be things there you disagree with. And that's okay.

i think that the first thing you should do is try to figure out why you are doing drugs. most people do it to fill some sort of void that they have... it's like a coverup for their problems.

if the church is willing to help you figure this out, then i'd say go to church. if a rehab or group will help you, you should try that.

some people figure that by getting saved, they'll stop their habits. it works for some but not all. i've seen many people who keep on messing up, even if they're saved, because they fail to actually deal with the problem (just like drugs, going to church only covers up the problem instead of dealing with it)

regardless, if a church is any good, they'll want you to stop the drugs, not because they want to brainwash you but because drugs aren't healthy for anyone and they don't want to see a person hurt themselves in this way

and remember, there are THOUSANDS of churches, all having their good and bad... take your time when trying to find the right one. maybe you should look to some of the newer churches that don't necessarily preach about condemnation and going to hell but the churches that are almost like motivational sessions. the preachers speak of thinking positively, believing in yourself... i find that this kind of preaching reaches out to people more and is more effective

good luck though!!

YOU only get your Spirit RECREATED ONCE, by Accepting JESUS as your SAVIOUR.
That is called getting Born-Again, or Saved.

You can chose to Sin all you want to BEFOR you are SAVED, and AFTER you are SAVED-------you will never lose your FREE-WILL.

To get SAVED (Spirit Recreated) and make it to HEAVEN:
1. You do not have to quit sinning or clean yourself up, so on so on---all you have to do is ask JESUS to come into your HEART (Spiritman) and SAVE(Recreate) you(a Spirit, living in a body).
2. After you are SAVED, you can still sin all you want to, IF you still want to, till you go to Heaven.
3. Don't commit the Unpardonable SIN, the only way to Lose your Salvation.
4. The Unpardonable SIN is not just committing Regular Ole's Sin's (Murder, Gay, Stealing, Drug's etc.) the Unpardonable SIN is Walking Away from JESUS and everthing HE stand's for ON PURPOSE, and not turning back, ever. Baby Christian's cannot commit the UNPARDONABLE SIN, no matter how much they Sin (Murder, Gay, Stealing, Drug's etc.).
Hope this helps.
p.s. After you are SAVED, if you keep on Sinning, instead of trying to Walk with GOD and come out of those Sin's, you will bring down more Curse's into your Life on the EARTH, and some Sin's will cut your Physical Life SHORT on this EARTH. They still have Capitol Punishment don't they?
I know they still have Jails. HEY we still have Policemen! WOW, I would really hate to have to start swinging a six-shooter on my side. Thanky-JESUS, for AMERICA.

He will accept you where you are at. If you smoke don't worry about it.

Don't play games with God however. His patience is great and His love unfathomable. But don't wait too long. He could return any day.

And every day that you live doing the things that break the commandments hurts YOU more, it doesn't do a thing to HIM.

You don't have to stop doing anything to get saved. Once saved, Jesus will work in your life. God will CHANGE the desires of your heart. One day you will not want to do certain things any more. The change will come.

And you should NOT wait.
The day of salvation is TODAY.
What if you were to die tonight?
