Name some ways for the moderators to revise the rules on here so that the easily offended can't report everyone for every little thing they don't like. I just got reported for responding to a question in a rhetorical manner. Not rude, not incendary, not violent or angry even... just rhetorical and assumptive. The rules as they are, allow anyone to report you just because they don't like you. This should not be allowed it is another form of abuse! GIve the moderators some ideas on how to please all of the people all of the time! My idea is a disclaimer that even a 11 year old (who should not be on here unattended anyway) could understand n simple, easy to get, terms.

Well, the rules could be amended to REQUIRE something in the "reason" box. Then people who just click on reporting someone would have to spend some time (and words) defending why.
I think this would discourage people who are not taking reporting seriously.

Note that the rules currently DO require you to give a reason. I've never seen "I don't like them" as one of the ones listed. So if you have been reported, something must have fallen under a particular category and have been ruled correctly reported by the monitors.

The rules do NOT allow anyone to report you just because they don't like you. You have to have a reason to report someone. And if you look through the list of reasons given on the report abuse page, 'Don't like this person' isn't included.
If you were responding in a rhetorical manner, did you make that clear in your response?
It can be annoying, at times, but on the other hand, there are some flagrant abuses on here, and they do deserve to get called for their abuse.
I've gotten a violation notice too, for responding in Spanish to a question posed in Spanish. It seemed the thing to do at the time, but in retrospect, I probably deserved it.

Tell me about it, I just lost another one. In Jokes and Riddles, I posted this:
For sale: One computer, slightly used. One bullet hole in screen.

My thinking is that by posting it in Jokes and Riddles, by definition, that becomes a joke. How come they don't understand that?

There's been a lot of talk lately about making the site for adults only. I have to say I agree. My daughter is 14, and I don't let her go on Answers, she'd just add to the problem.

Maybe a simple addition to Community Guidelines will work. The third time you report abuse on a question that gets removed, and Yahoo has to go back and apologize for removing the question, the reporter gets suspended.

Reporters should lose 10 points for each unwarranted report of abuse they report. That'll make them think about it. But maybe for those who have zillions of points they should lose more. Maybe for each level they are on the loss of points would be increased.
