not a good idea....swimming usually takes out your dye anyways no matter when you got your hair dyed, but, yeah not a good idea to go when you juuust got it done, give it time to set for a day or two

I would wait at least 24 hours and after one shampoo to make sure the color has set, plus when you do go swimming, in order to protect you color, pre wet your hair so it doesn't absorb as much of the chlorinated water, or wear a swim cap (I know, I know, dorky, depends on how drastic the color change was). This will help keep your color looking fresh and beautiful.

What kind of water do you intend to swim in? Saltwater? Fresh water? Chlorinated water, such as in a pool?

I'd not recommend putting freshly colored hair in chlorinated water...it's not good for your color at any time, but especially right away. If that's your plan either color after you swim, swim another day, or wear a swimcap to protect your hair.

I wouldn't. A girl on my swim team tried that a few years back, and we could see her hair turning the pool water funny colors. Quite a bit of the dye came out, but she didn't look too badly afterwards.

thats not exactly a smart idea especially if you are getting it dyed a lighter color. it will taint the color even change it into a greenish tint if you are getting it dyed a blonde color or light brown but if you get it a darker color all it will do is fade it which isnt exactly nice either

No I die my hair almost every month or so. You half to wait at least 24 hours befor getting it wet. If you don't the color will fade.

To test it out, wash your hair frist and see if any color comes out, if not, go ahead.. or the lifeguard in the pool will kick you out..

unless you go swimming in the beach, you can go any time!

You could, but you shouldn't. Your cuticle could still be open, allowing the color that's just been put in to "leak" out. If you payed good money for the color, you should take care of it.

No, the cholorine in the water can turn your hair a bad color or, even worse, damage it the point of hair breakage, etc.
