Demons cannot just posses anyone they somehow have to have an open door such as occult practice sin that brings deep gult or unconfessed sin. But in the movie Exorcism of Emily Rose the movie onlyshows her being a good Catholic girl, then going of to college, and then getting possed in her dorm while she is sleeping.
So if anyone knows more to the true story that the movie didn't show, please tell me what door was opened that lead to her posession.

Let me add details since I am not getting responses:
A Christian strong in faith cannot be possessed
But I guess since we are talking about Catholic mabe so since Catholica believe in worshipping saints and idols which is against Gods Holy word-
The devil enetered Judas because of Greed, so by Gods words we know that the flesh can allow the devil to enter-
What did Emily Rose do that would allow possesion?
The apparition of Mary that appeared to her was a demon so she would give up fighting the demon and it killed her.

Basically the same way in the movie. She was a good Catholic girl just like Emily Rose. I do not remember hearing anywhere that demons can only posess certain people in certain circumstances. Anneliese Michele was possessed at her house, I believe, not in her dorm. There are other small differences between the true story and movie, but nothing major.
I did not see the movie, however I have researched Anneliese Michele and obviously that brought up a ton of information online about The Exocism of Emily Rose. Really very interesting!
God bless!

In the end of the film we find out that God is in control.
God allows for people to be a victim soul.
An example of a victim soul is Alexandrina, A Portuguese victim soul, crippled jumping from a window to escape a rapist; she suffered the Passion of Christ on Fridays, spoke with Our Lord, and ate nothing save Communion her last 13 years. D. 1955.
Another example is Marthe Robin, she was born in 1902.
Her only food was the Holy Eucharist
From the age of 28 she was completely paralysed and bedridden. At first she still had the power to move thumb and forefinger of one hand whereby she could still tell her beads. Eventually this, too, was lost to her and she was completely immobile apart from her head which she could move slightly. Since the previous year, at the age of 25, she could not eat anything at all. And from the age of 26 and her total paralysis she couldn't even take a sip of water. When doctors tried to force some water down her throat, it merely came down her nostrils.
For the next 53 years Marthe's only food was the Holy Eucharist. Once a week her spiritual father brought her the Sacred Host. On more than one occasion both he and other visiting priests, saw the Host apparently leap from their hands and fly directly to her mouth. Even a bishop testified that he saw it apparently dissolve once it passed her lips.
The film also portrays the possessed girl as a "victim soul" or even a saint who at the end hears the voice of the Blessed Mother. In the midst of the greatest battle, Mary tells Emily that the suffering has been allowed by God to show society that evil spirits really do exist.
The girl is asked if she wishes to go with the Blessed Mother and leave the torture behind, or remain in the state of possession as a sacrifice. Emily chooses the suffering. As she says in a farewell note to Father Moore, "People think that God is dead. How can they believe that if I show them the devil?"
The Chuch has taught that there are people offer atonement for the sins of others. God works in the hearts of these victim souls so that they might live this kind of life because they privately ask God for this to happen to them.

the real story is that the catholic priest who done the exorcism was taken to court for failing to provide the young girl with her medication for epilepsy .. which is very likely what was wrong with her all along
people having epileptic seizures can go into spasms and show great strength .. which many would contribute to demonic posses ion ( if they were silly enough )
please don't believe everything you see on TV and more so silly stuff from movies .. because if they showed what really happened .. it would be so boring so they hype it up

I think you are making a big mistake. Pride. The same sin that sent Lucifer down the path he took.
Satan is far more powerful than one might think. He is the second most powerful being in the universe. To think that one can protect one's self by just being good is extremely prideful.
I'd say that a much better approach is to admit that one is helpless when it comes to posession. God is the one who can help, and the ritual of exorcism is the means through which he acts.
I'd really recommend contacting a Catholic priest on the matter if you want to get some official answers on the subject.

you should read the book!!! The original book is "the possession of Analiese Micael" she lived in Germany and the problems began when she was 16 and still at home. She was treated for epilepsy with no success. Then you decide. The devil looks for sweet and innocent and only goes after those who live right.

It can't be a true story, because exorcism doesn't exist. Never did, never will. PS: The Tooth Fairy doesn't exist either, heheheh...
