You can try layering it at a salon or get a haircut like a boy

Grab a Cosmo magazine and find a cut you like. Look for a layered look so your hair will be thinned out a little bit and easier to manage. You should expect to pay $50 or more for a great hair cut. I know it's a lot, but going to Supercuts expecting the best hair cut is selling yourself short.

I have really thick hair-- and I have found that when I go to get my hair trimmed, I have them "thin it" (they use special kind of scissors and it thins out some of the bulk-- doesn't mess up your hair though)

You have two options-- you can either cut it in layers (long layers) so that it's not so heavy and gives it some extra body and flow =

OR you can keep it all one length and you can then pull it up or back-- they have lots of cute and easy ways to keep your hair up or just back off your face.

I make sure I condition my hair after every shampoo with a leave in conditioner(prevents split ends and makes it healthy) and

I also use a "sleeking" serum on my hair after it is dry (I let my hair air dry)-- and it makes it smooth and much easier to control-- better texture too--

I have very thick hair also. I assume that you want something that will look the same length while making it more manageable? Layers are great for that, really!

well it so happens i have really thick hair and it use to be to the middle of my back but i cut my hair and donated it to the locks of love so if you do have long hair you can donate it and depending on how short you cut it you can do a lot of things. as soon as i got mine cut i layered it and let it grow back out every one was stunned that i cut my long hair but they ended up likening it and a little girl some where got a nice wig for her head!!

lots of conditioner and a style that will work for you.

i just condition and let mine go.. then it curls all up... i like to keep it long but it's a hassle.

it depends maybe go to the professionals and give them a crack at it.. you may be surprised.

i know i was.. i should go back they did wonders to my bush i wear on my head... everyone used to marvel or complain about my hair... if i don't care for it... the dang stuff dreads on me..

the problems with nasty thick hair.

mine's rather course... but it's caucasian hair.

sorta.

:D

maybe you can get a professional to layer it in such a way all you have to do is wash, condition and have it so you don't have to brush it to death or fuss with it.. just have it dry and fluff... it is possible...

just us thick haired people gotta go through extra thinking and trouble that's all.

see someone who knows thick hair... it will be worth it..

OMG i have the exact same problem, ask a hair dessers to cut it and then to thin it. they can do this. it feels soo much better, but remember that you have to do this every few months, if it is the summer i would just cut it so you can manage it, especially with the heat

what ever you do DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR TO A SHORT STYLE
it will just make it thicker looking. I have very thick curly hair and the shorter it is the thicker and "poofier" it look.
Ask your stylist perhaps they can put long layers in your hair to help

best of luck

Find a stylist who can do a razor cut to take off some of the weight. Or you could try layers. Talk to a hairstylist.

you could always get your hair thinned out! I used to get that when I was younger (school days) because it was easier to manage that way. The scissors that are used to thin out your hair look really funny, they look like scissors with blades that look like steak knives. that will help a lot, but make sure you have your/a hairstylist do it. you don't want to try it yourself! !!!!!!

Talk to someone who cuts hair professionally; they'll be able to tell from the length, thickness, and texture of your hair what it will do and what it won't, and what would look best.
