As mentioned, you are only allowed one free credit report a year. You can get it from http://www.annualcreditreport.com

But here is a little trick.....

There are three credit agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). Each of these has pretty much the same information on you.

What you can do is get one report from a company, then wait 4 months and get a report from a differant company. Four months later get the last report. That way you can stagger your reports and hopefully monitor your credit all year long.

It's not the best solution but at least it's free.

TrueCredit (operated by TransUnion - a major credit reporting agency) for $15 a month will allow unlimited score and report access.

The billing is recurring. You can refresh your score daily if you want to (it normally doesn't change that often). The service also alerts you with material credit report changes (new, closed accounts). I opened a new credit card and it was alerting me within a week.

I use it and enjoy the service. Good luck with whatever you choose.

There's a site called annualcreditreport.com that will allow you to access your credit report from the credit reporting agencies at no charge. You can print it out. I don't think there's any place that will let you have free access year 'round.

To get free access for a year, get your credit reports from www.AnnualCreditReport.com.

Write down the file numbers from each credit report.

The file numbers will allow you to access the reports throughout the year.
