How can I help people see what Christ was saying without offending? I do not believe in Christ as a savior, period. But that doesn't mean that I don't find his teachings to be valuable, and even benevolent, and in fact I do. (right up until, only through me can you attain the kingdom of heaven) How is it that I can see this, not being a Christian, and Christians can't, don't, or won't. (Granted this does not apply to all Christians, just what seems to be the majority.)

The best way you could help me as a Christian is to challenge my beliefs. That way I have to search God's word to prove to you and also myself why I believe what I do.

I guess you can (if you really want to) point out my shortcomings, because none of us are perfect and sometimes I need to have some clear thinking individual help me along.

I know if the person pointing it out were as respectful and insightful as you, the Christian probably wouldn't be offended. They would end up thanking you.

There is a wonderful saying..."Let your life speak!" This was the way Jesus did it...he walked the talk. He did not profess a religion, he knew Who & What he was in reality... a pure spirit...a single piece of the Wholeness/the totality of God...this is what he exampled & tried to show others.

You are quite correct in not edifying him, the person, but him, the life...this was the intent.

And also correct in seeing the contradiction of only through Christ is the way to heaven...there is no choice in this...we ALL go Home. Great thinking...Good Journey!

The only thing you really need is all the references you can get to 'love one another,' and that's quite a lot. That single command is the basis of all Christianity, and if you can just remind people of it, it'll make them better Christians.

That's a hard call. Bart Erhman (author of "Misquoting Jesus" and "Lost Christianities") went through this and is considered a Bible authority. You might check into his work and see if you can find something to emulate.

If you want to help then point out when we are wrong. I won't mind. Just do it out of love and I'll except your criticism..
