1. The undocumented worker does NOT come for just the harvest season. That is those legally under the H2 visas, which I am ok with. The undocumented worker hangs out in agriculture until he can get ID and a line on better work.

2. Those legally here are budgeted for. I think we should get rid of the 'family unification principle' above our quotas, and instead increase our quotas to an 'acceptable' amount so only that many can come in. If they are here legally, our laws are supposed to protect our schools etc.... and might if illegal immigration weren't so prevelant.

Prove to me that the undocumented worker leaves after harvest! My apartment building was recently re-roofed by twenty unskilled illegal aliens. The water main installed in my town a few years ago was put in buy a few dozen illegals (when the INS went through, the pipeline work ceased until they could all find their way back). They are hired because they work for substantially less than citizens will work. So, $3500 per year for one legal family, or untold thousands and hundreds of thousands to unskilled, illegal labor, on which no taxes are ever PAID?

Legal, because they pay taxes like the rest of us. The ones who come here to work for the harvest season usually don't leave. When their visa expires, they just stay here because it's too expensive to return to Mexico to renew it. That's how a lot of them gain entry into the country.
